While reading this book, don't go for the story as the story is weak and predictable but what it actually contains is the situations from which the male protagonist walks because of his clingy girlfriend. Some of the scenes are absolute laugh riots.
The downfall of the book is that except the funny situations, there's nothing that will stay with you once you finish the book. You'll not even be able to connect with the characters of the book.
Overall, the book is for all those who wants to read, just to have a good fun.
So, if you want to hear about a typical male not getting girls in the teenage, who is jealous about one of his cousin because he is always surrounded by girls, picks up girls by throwing silly pick up lines, wanting to maintain a relationship with a girl for one and only one reason (no extra marks for guessing what - sex) and worrying that breakup means he will never get laid again in his life, this is the book for you. On the other side, the girl gets impressed by his pickup line, slowly enters into his life, moves into his house, kicks out his roommate, stays as a wife (for outside world) and is probably from the family of "If he is talking with any other girl, it can only mean one thing - He is having an AFFAIR with her", always stalking him with umpteen number of missed calls and messages.
I really never met any person with such level of stupid behaviors in them. But, maybe the author has an extreme level of imagination which can only come out in such a book. If anything, this book deserves more than a miss.
Story is very disapointed. The author tried to give some prespective. But that was very lenghty & boring.
Obrokranti Banerjee’s girlfriend is nothing that you can imagine. She will keep an eye over him, call him 50 times a day and leave hundreds of missed calls and text messages if he is in a meeting and had informed her about it. She won’t give him his due space at any cost and then make it sound as if everything was Obro’s fault. Sounds exaggeration? Well, it is not. Radha is Obro’s girlfriend and other than the name she has, there is nothing divine about her. Trust me on that!
Positives: While many authors are picking up the clichéd love story time and again, My Clingy Girlfriend is not yet another run-of-the-mill kind of love story. It’s very different and brings out the need for space in a relationship. Through the life of the protagonist Obro, the anecdotes and the situations will help you reflect on this one basic need in any relationship. At least for me, I wasn’t as amused but indeed intrigued by the author’s ability to share the true meaning of a love relationship between a guy and a girl and when to draw the line. Madhuri Banerjee has undertaken a unique way to send the message to readers about relationships that become suffocating without those involved even realizing when that happens.
My Clingy Girlfriend is well narrated and weaved from Obro’s point of view. As you read the book, you will like Obro and what he wants in life is like any other normal office going, hard-working 20 something guy. The conversations, the tete-a-tetes and the office situations are well represented and Mumbai is of course the city of dreams.
