A journey into darkness and back to the light. The Moon makes it look so easy.
Winner of the 2016 Royal Dragonfly Book Award, Moon Full of Moons is a collection of poetry about resilience, renewal, and creating a deep happiness in the midst of sadness and ongoing loss.
The book is divided into nine chapters, each named after a phase of the moon. Moon Full of Moons is a journey of survival, empowerment, and a determination to discover a light that has known darkness. This moving collection of over 100 poems explores innocence, love, mental illness, family, grief, forgiveness, healing, acceptance, and joy. Raw and honest with lush, evocative imagery, Moon Full of Moons is "self help in a whole new way".
Everything is made from the remnants of what was. So - yes - you can build from it again.

Review
"Moon Full of Moons offers rich material for poetry therapy. The overall concept and structure of the moon's phases as a kind of mythical journey has a wide variety of interesting possibilities and many of the poems touch on themes very salient in a therapeutic setting: lost innocence, despair, mental illness, grief, family, motherhood, love, forgiveness, regaining personal power, experiencing connection with creation, finding happiness." - Journal of Poetry Therapy (2017); 30: 61-62.
"Wonderfully unique...Lehmann is a master of word painting and poem construction." - FIVE STAR review from Readers' Favorite
"there is a heartbeat to these poems, making this a memorable and beautiful collection." - hedgerow: a journal of small poems

About the author

Kat Lehmann is an award-winning, Connecticut-based haiku poet. She shares her words of transformation to engage readers on their journeys through pain, wonder, and love. What first inspired her to write was the self-discovery of endured hardship and loss. As a Ph.D. biochemist, her deep, nature-centered contemplations have ultimately fueled the soulful resonance of her poetic works.
Kat writes at the intersect of poetry, meditation, self-help, and memoir. Kat’s haiku has been recognized in The Haiku Foundation Touchstone Award, the Haiku Society of America Harold G. Henderson Haiku Award, Japan’s Basho-an Award, ITO EN Oi Ocha Shinhaiku, NHK-World Haiku Masters, and Mainichi Best of Haiku.
Her book Stumbling Toward Happiness: Haibun and Hybrid Poems (29 Trees, 2019) shares her notes on inner learning and unlearning and the gifts of beautiful imperfection.
Her bestselling book Small Stones from the River (2017; prose and poetry) collects tiny, nuanced truths about love, loss, healing, forgiveness, and resilience. Small Stones from the River is an ideal companion for quiet reflection or journaling, which can be done directly onto its pages.
Her award-winning Moon Full of Moons (2015; poetry) is a collection of poetry about creating happiness in the midst of sadness. The book is divided into nine chapters, each named for a phase of the moon, to tell a story of a light that has known darkness.
Kat is the founder of the Ripples of Kindness project in which copies of her books are left in public spaces for people to find. Her poetry books have been gifted in 17 US states and 14 countries. She says, “We can all put something good into the world, just by doing it.”
Kat lives with her family in the forest where she writes, under a clear view of the Moon. She shares her writing on Twitter and Instagram as @SongsOfKat.

For me its deep - is calming, strangely and yet not very strangely so, it uniquely offers varied perspective depending on when one picks it up and reads it. My son enjoys my reading out the book to him as well.
