The hallways of Monster High are now alive with the ultimate accessory that looks just like the infamous school. This fold-up set opens to reveal six play areas. There’s the school entrance, where the cool ghouls gather. Say hello to the gargoyles that greet visitors to this iconic building as you swing the knockers and enter through the tall, double doors. Take class in the mad science classroom, with two student desks, a lab cart and a blackboard with lesson. Creep through the iconic locker hallway; grab some school supplies from the lockers that really open and have working locks. “Fang” out at the table in the Creepateria, a scary cool spot for lunch or school events. Right up the stairs is the hallway, where the trophy case doubles as a DJ booth for those fangtastic dances that happen in the Creepateria-turned-dance-hall. Just hang the Skullette disco ball and other party decorations to quickly change the scene. Outside, ghouls can play hoops on the Casketball Court or ‘chill and thrill’ on the bleachers. There’s room for all the student bodies. Ghouls can play with and display all of their Monster High dolls, sold separately. Piece-count also includes 2 student desks, 1 bleacher, 1 Creepateria table, 1 casketball hoop, 2 notebooks, 1 binder, 2 bowls of food, 1 disco skull, 1 beaker with lid, 4 trophies and 1 sticker/label sheet that can be used to decorate the rooms for monsterific events.

Assembly and Construction
The Monster High School contains a variety of pieces and decals. Our tester found it initially took about fifteen to twenty minutes to assemble everything included. The decals are small, but easy to apply to the miniature pieces. The High School consists mostly of plastic pieces, but seems to be well made. The designers put a lot of attention to detail, and the set includes numerous small elements from the Monster High universe, such as the tiny etchings on the Creepateria table and hangers in the lockers.

If you are worried about accuracy, Monster High School is meticulously detailed. There's a locker area, a cafeteria and a school room. It boasts a basketball court but the "court" is simply a hoop on the side of the school (and it comes with a black basketball!). But the details are not the best part... when you first get it out of the box it looks kind of like a closed coffin, and not too big... but it keeps folding out and you end up with two good sized rooms (with floors!) and an upstairs area. These houses without floors are ridiculous... and it was awesome to see that this would not be an issue with this set! I was actually surprised at how big it is overall, and best of all - it closes right back up, locks up and even has a handle. This can easily be stored in a closet, under the bed or behind a door when not in use. It's not going to be a huge bulky play set. I could even reasonably see them taking this over to a friend's house to play with after they have the knack of opening it by themselves! The design is great, and I hope more companies will take a cue from design.
Assembly is a cinch (there isn't much of one). There are a few lights to hang, two moveable spiderweb lantern holders that can be moved around and clipped in various places, a pair of columns for the front with gargoyles... nothing too extreme. The school is already stickered and ready to go! It comes with a page of extra stickers but they are just for adding your own touches, the school has its decals on right out of the box! Very impressive! You can pop this out and the kids can be playing with it within minutes without hovering over you waiting for you to finish construction on the house.
The only downside are the accessories. It comes with a lot of them, but many have to be assembled, such as the cafeteria tables, the rolling cart, the benches (part of the "basketball court" I assume, but the kids use it for extra classroom seating) and two desks. There's other goodies that are ready to go such as various creepy foods and classroom supplies. The little working skull locks for the coffin lockers were another nice touch.
Overall, this playset is a big hit. There's plenty of room for lots of ghouls to haunt the halls and it's cute to see my kids practicing math and spelling by playing "school" with the Monster High characters. Imagination is where the educational spin of this comes in, but for those kids that have it, they will actually enjoy using their dolls to teach one another and will be practicing skills needed for school without even knowing it. If you were on the fence about this one due to fears about size or being unstable... then fear not!
+Very little assembly required (maybe 10-15 minutes to sort the pieces and snap the furniture together)
+Bigger than expected
+Nice decent build
+Not a bulky eyesore! Folds up for storage with a carrying handle
+It has FLOORS!
+Accurately depicts Monster High
+Lots of little details and accessories
+Reasonably priced considering what you get (bought mine from Amazon for $79.99)
-The stairway to the second floor can be hard to lock in place
-The second floor could have used a column to help support it. The stairs keep it from collapsing but you won't be playing with that level too roughly.
-Could have used another desk or two, but that's a minor quibble
This set is sure to please all those Monster High fans!
ALSO PLEASE NOTE: There have been a lot of comments about this playset (and other toys) being shipped in only their own packaging. That would totally ruin anyone's surprise! There's a quick fix for that though: at checkout, mark that the item is a GIFT and it will be shipped nice and snug inside an unmarked package! Surprise maintained.....
The set comes with desks, a bleacher, DJ thing, a basket (with ball), and a table as well as other little parts. There is plenty to do and see and was good for hours of play. It does not come with dolls of course so those are extra but it works fine with other similarly sized dolls to Monster High. It also has a sheet of stickers but I saw no application for them so maybe it's just for fun to decorate with I suppose.
This is a good value even off sale in my opinion as it provides enough variety to stage applications of the imagination.
Update: 3/7/14. I saw the set again after a few months and the six year old that owns it still loves it, and it has not broken. Even though there are multiple folding points to store it away, it has not broken in that way either. I think that the people that complain about it being broken easily need to look at the child involved and their behavior rather than the toy. This one works fine and lasts if you take care of it like anything else.
The "second" floor has a very hard time staying up or supporting any weight. The ladder is suppose to apparently support some weight, but it does this badly and slides off, often. Then you add the back part of it (the wall). That part is not straight, which would be ok if it was balanced, but it's not. It needs a box behind it to help it stand. Which defeats the decorations on the back side for the kids to play with. Overall, this was not worth the money. It's not bad, but I don't think it's good either.
I would not recommend this item.
