However, I am disappointed to say that this binder could not replace some of the more typical 3-ring binders I use. The locking mechanism is really loud when snapping to open and close the rings and generally seems to lack in sturdiness or durability when locking/unlocking. Even worse, I am getting a lot of problems in getting pages "caught" in the rings when turning the pages, despite the rings not having any obvious flaw in their connection to one another. Thus, I went back to the "ugly" binders.
- Like all Moleskin products, it has a nice "classic" look to it, which is pretty fitting for usage in professional settings.
- The 3-rings are really cheap and will frustrate you if you need to lock/unlock often and if you need to turn pages in the binder a significant amount. NOT FOR DAILY USE.
I'm not basing my rating or my review on the afore mentioned issues. I read the reviews and thanks to them I knew what I would receive. So I will review it on what it actually is. But I will have to say, if you plan on filing A4 sized documents this folder is not a good option.
As a 3 ring binder it is nice. Simple, elegant and durable, quality wise it is comparable to my other Moleskine products.
The pocket works well and comes in handy for storing something that does not have holes punched. Like all Moleskine products the simple elastic band does it's job well.
It is much more expensive then almost any other three ring binder out there, but If you plan on using it for something that needs to hold up for to years of use, then I think it will pay for it's several times over.
A note on the Moleskine dividers. They are nice and they add a second expandable pocket to your binder, (which I wanted). They come with adhesive labels for the tabs, BUT the labels are wider and longer then the tabs on the dividers and unless you cut them down or paste them on and fold them over where they overlap, they don't really fit. (I tried both ways and it didn't work well and looked terrible.) I'll rate and review the tabs on their own, but I thought since they get offered as a package deal that a note on them would be appropriate.
Also, if you plan on using plastic page protectors, (I use them because I can't punch holes in most of what I file in the binder). Know that the extra width will almost completely obscure the tabs. Had the dividers been .5" wider it would have worked perfectly.
This binder is solid and the rings are not cheap metal. The rings and the binding make this a nice binder. I only wish they made it a bit wider so I can hold more.
The back pocket is a snug fit and can be a pain getting full size papers into it. The folded seam on the pocket reduce the amount of real storage space. But it is nice to have it.
I am rough on binders, and I usually end up with papers falling out due to the rings seperating. This binder takes my abuse, and the rings are holding up to my dropping and leaning on it.
This is worth the price, and it is another fine product by Moleskine.
One thing for US customers, when looking at Moleskine products make sure you look at the measurements, since Moleskine has international sizing as well.
This is actually a three ring binder (like the description states) not a two ring shown in the picture. I like the way the material feels - smooth, sturdy, and well-constructed (at least compared to the ugly cardboard and plastic binders you find in the office supply stores). I have not had any issues with papers getting caught in the rings, or with the rings not staying closed/closing properly. I have been using this binder regularly for over a year, and I am not at all disappointed. I think it's worth the investment.
I would recommend this to anyone willing to spend a little more for an aesthetically superior and well-crafted binder.
