But there is was, i bought it after reading a few reviews (i ignore one star reviews. Some how those people seem with very bitter or expect too much. e.g. where is the 50 page instruction book with recipes.
It arrived, I follow the instructions (there are a couple) and wound up with a perfectly grilled chicken breast, grill marks included in seven minutes. Moist.
Steak, pork chops and thicker chicken breasts took some experimentation to get it right but so far i seem to have conquered all challenges.
All this piece of cooking equipment requires is a piece of meat, two tablespoons of oil (I use olive), a microwave, adjustable cooking times based on the wattage of your microwave and a willingness to forgo the dishwasher, because the base at must be washed by hand. But don't worry, nothing at all seems to stick on the surface, so there is no scrubbing involved. Dish cloth and liquid is all that's needed.
My recommendation: If you use the microwave a lot and want grilled meat, this is the cooking machine for you.
The whole thing cleans up super easily and no grease spatters on surrounding areas to clean up.
There is a learning curve involved with timing. I am getting more confident and have moved beyond cooking in 1 minute intervals, checking and going again. As I cook various things I will gain confidence in timing-but it is not difficult to just put something back in for another few seconds or minute.
Four stars, not five, because the instruction book is seriously lacking. The instruction book has a few recipes but no "standard cooking times" listings. I expected the basics to be covered-noting variations for different wattage ovens such as a steak of certain weight/thickness, the same for fish, veggies by variety and quantity but they are not to be found. I did a quick search on the internet to see if any of the standard times could be found but either they are not there, yet, or I just didn't find them.
It is not good for making crisp bacon-but for some reason my frozen, breaded fish sticks do come out crisp. I can't explain that, but I usually do bacon in the microwave on and with a cover of paper towel so no loss in having to continue doing that.
I anticipate using this several times a week if not daily because of the speed, delicious outcome, and ease of clean up. So far I am very pleased and am considering buying the pan version-but so far the grill does everything I expected it to do.
I love it with my frozen, unbreaded, fish fillets-they come out just right and very moist. Boneless, skinless chicken breasts also come out with nice grill marks and done very nicely. It is easy to put flavorings on them before cooking. I have also made "grilled" veggies such as asparagus and broccoli and been very happy with the results. I have actually done the veggies along with the chicken and been pleased with the results.
I live alone and cook most of my own meals. I don't like having to clean the stove top after frying in pans-now I just swish this pan out and dry it off and am good to go.
I have cooked steaks, veal, lamb, burgers and fish and everything comes out with a true grilled taste but still very moist. The one thing I will not cook in this is a thicker steak. I think my tabletop grill does a better job because it cooks both sides at once. And, while this is pretty easy to clean, it cannot be submerged in water while the plates from my grill can go right in the sink.
Still, this is a very handy item to have in your kitchen. Once you experiment with timing and the right amount of oil or liquid, it is a breeze to use and really extends the capabilities of your microwave. I love it!
Have not had issues with handle, but other reviews warned me about it, so I've been very gentle with it. Soon as I saw them selling replacement handles was kind of a clue.
I've cooked burgers, bacon, eggs, potatoes. Just have to watch, they will burn fast if you let it go to long. And my microwave is underpowered at 700 watts. If yours is bigger, be very careful.
The protective coating on the lid peeled off rendering it useless. Pan was just 6 months old. Contacted company via email. Two emails later, so I could provide proof of purchase, and they shipped me a new lid. Got it today, cooked with it tonight. Great customer support.
