1) Surplus child support - the amount of child support in excess of one half of actual cost backed up by real world data such as receipts and credit card statements. I've heard of child support awards of six to ten thousand per month. Really? Does it really cost $12,000 to $20,000 per month to raise a child?
2) Alimony, excessive amounts of it, and in some cases for life.
3) Unequal/unfair property/asset division if one is old enough to have accumulated some degree of wealth such as retirement saving.
4) By default, the woman gets custody of the children and the man gets kicked out of his own home.
I don't think there men are on strike so much as are just staying out of the water. Fifty percent of all marriages end in divorce. Let's say you move to the northern coast of Australia, it is summer in the southern hemisphere, hotter than hell, and you are near a body of water. You observe someone swim in the water and cool off. You think about how it might be nice to jump in and cool off yourself, but before you do, you observe a second person jump in the water, but this person gets eaten by a salt water crocodile. Over a period of time, ten people swim in the water, and five of them get eaten by crocodiles. So what do you do? You stay out of the water. You want to jump in the water. You'd like to jump in the water. You stay out of the water because the water isn't safe.
There are "Scared Straight" programs where juvenile delinquents are brought into prisons where the inmates describe the horrors of prison life. Somebody should start a "Scared Single" program where a young man contemplating marriage is brought into a room full of divorced fathers who warn them of the horrors of divorce court.
Since the 1970's males have been under constant media, academic, legal, mental, and emotional assaults. Their vary nature has been used against them, while it's also been demonized, ridiculed, and denied.
Equality has been used as a tool for denying males any space of their own, any form of male bonding, and any self respect. Equality has also been used to make heterosexuality seem to be nothing but harassment and rape. In other words, males have been subjected to intense discrimination in the name of equality.
Chivalry has simultaneously been labelled misogynism, while it's absence is used to show men don't care about women. Men have been treated with outright suspicion while being samaritans. Men are often treated worse for kindness than cruelty. In other words, Feminists have denied everything good and decent about Males.
Marriage, that was once a bond between man and woman, has been reduce to virtual slavery - for men. Child support and alimony have been distorted to the point where divorced men are legally conscripted into involuntary service - that's slavery in every way except name.
All that combined with Feminist Double Standards, Misandric Attitudes, and Double Speak has Males lost and running for cover.
To sum up: This book is a Powerful Warning to males who are naive enough to think they're safe in a Feminist Age. It's a priceless tool for Females who want to help Abused Males. It's also a Powerful warning to Misandrists who, in their ignorance or arrogance, don't realize how far passed too far Males have been pushed.
In 2005 Harvard President Lawrence H. Summers spoke at a conference on women and other minorities in the science and engineering workforce. Summers said that POSSIBLE explanations for the underrepresentation of women in the upper echelons of these professions MIGHT include upbringing, genetics, and time spent on child rearing. He clearly stated that he made these comments to be provocative. Listening to the presentation, MIT biologist Nancy Hopkins said, "I felt I was going to be sick. My heart was pounding and my breath was shallow. I was extremely upset." She wasn't the only one. A firestorm of male and female outrage engulfed Harvard for months.
Has any man out there ever felt sick when he saw a portrayal of us as perverts, predators, and goofballs? Have our hearts started pounding and our breathing become shallow? Now, just imagine if you could press a button and instantly change all those thousands of commercials from women calling their husbands idiots to men telling their wives to calm down, grow up, and stop being so stupid. Pause and think of the global hysteria. All double standards are enraging, but one of the worst is, "I am woman hear me roar, but I'm just a girl, so stop being mean to me."
Yet Dr. Smith is optimistic. Her book functions as a cogent identifier of the problem, a handbook of solutions, and an unflinching statement of principles. It's thoroughly footnoted, with an index and a selection of resources for men. Very worthwhile and a fast, thought-provoking read.
