Product Description

The 3rd instalment in The Bernovem Chronicle is here!
This time Kristina’s stayed on in the magical land, to join Hector Mysteria, in the search for the wizard, Azaril Crimson, who’s hidden Bernovem’s Book of Prophecy in the forsaken land of Jalmara. Sentiz is also back and in search of a key item―the Medallion―that she’ll need in order to cast her final spell to rule Bernovem. Things would be much easier for her, if only the whereabouts of the Medallion were known.

Join Kristina as she continues her adventure, on her dangerous journey, where she’ll soar high above the land and seas, on the back of a dragon, barely escape the clutches of death, as well as meet someone from her past she’d never dreamed of seeing in Bernovem.

5.0 out of 5 stars An outstanding, hard to put down, MUST READ! 9 September 2016

Once more talented wordsmith, Victoria Simcox takes us to a land full of intrigue and emotions in such a captivating way that though this novel is darker than the first two books in The Bernovem Chronicles, it was hard to put this novel down until I'd gobbled up the last word!

To find each character and scene riveting was a feat many who write series fall short of, but this was certainly not the case to the delight of this author/reviewer - and believe me when I share that many series seem to slip by book three. All I can say is that within the pages of this tour-de-force work are so many twists and turns that if you're looking for a book you and your children can read together and discuss, this series is a MUST READ!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Fantasy Literature! 11 August 2016

This is my third book by Author Simcox. I’ve read The Warble, The Shard and The Medallion was such an added treat. Many trilogies fail to capture the essence of the first book, but this one is ever more ramped up! Here are young female warrior, Kristina is fighting to find a book of prophecy so she can return to her beloved home. She also needs to find her love Werrien. She teams up with a powerful wizard. She’s even got a dragon that takes her to mysterious lands. A long-time friend from her past comes into the scene to help her on her quest, yet his appearance holds much mystery. The setting descriptions really transport the reader to this magical land of Bernovem.
This is truly excellent fantasy literature. As an educator I feel this series should be adopted into all middle grade classrooms.
5.0 out of 5 stars The Best One Yet! 1 October 2016

I have read all of the books in author Victoria Simcox’s Bernovem Chronicles, and I think this one is the best one yet. In The Medallion we meet up again with Kristina Kingsly, and the stakes for her and for Bernovem couldn’t be higher. Kristina is searching for Azaril Crimson—who has hidden the powerful Book of Prophecy, and Hector Mysteria, a surprise visitor from Kristina’s past, and a dragon are all on hand to assist her on her dangerous journey. At the same time, Kristina’s beloved Werrien has been captured and is going through trials of his own. And all the while, the evil queen Sentiz plots to obtain the Medallion—the last item she needs to complete her takeover of all of Bernovem.

Once again, Victoria Simcox introduces us to a world of colorful and magical characters. Kristina is as feisty as ever, and after the events of the first two books, she seems to have grown even stronger—she is steadily growing into her role as Bernovem’s true chosen one. There is also a mysterious angelic figure who pops up from time to time, the glorious dragon, Aggy, and of course, the dwarves, gnomes, fairies, and shamels that we got to know in previous books. And in this book we get to see more of the fearsome irgul. The irgul are growing their ranks and getting ready to go to battle for Sentiz. It feels like a truly epic clash is brewing.

Throughout it all, Victoria Simcox continues with her signature twists and reveals—quite a few situations and characters turn out to be very different than you expected them to be. The story reads very quickly, and I found myself finishing the entire book in a day and a half.

The Medallion is an exciting, magical book, and I highly recommend that you go along with Kristina on her latest adventure.
4.0 out of 5 stars Another Lovely Fantasy Story 30 August 2016

Good things don’t always happen when we want them to, and we have to wait. The waiting often is worth it, though. Take Author Victoria Simcox’s latest novel, THE MEDALLION (THE BERNOVEM CHRONICLES BOOK 3) in her series. After reading the first two books I looked forward to the next one. And it finally is here.

In THE MEDALLION (THE BERNOVEM CHRONICLES BOOK 3) we meet our favorite characters again, along with some not so favorite characters, the troublemakers, of course. As we travel along with Kristina and Hector through the world of Bernovem, in their search for the Wizard Azaril, we encounter all sorts of strange creatures: angels, a dragon, serpent, and bats. The author describes each character vividly, making them seem almost alive.

Then there’s Sentiz, the queen, on a quest of her own to find the Medallion and insure she’ll be the ruler of Bernovem. Several plots are going on in the story, and the author switches to different point-of-view characters to let the reader see their thoughts and reactions to the events taking place.

If you enjoy reading about magic, amazing and unusual creatures, some good, some evil, then pick up a copy of THE MEDALLION and travel along with Kristina and the other characters as they face almost impossible odds to reach their goals. Victoria Simcox has written another lovely story that will charm you and have you waiting for the next book in the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars The adventure continues! 29 July 2016

Having read Book #1 - The Warble, and Book #2 - The Shard, I couldn't wait to dive into Book #3 - The Medallion. I'm happy to say the author didn't disappoint. She took the main characters, Kristina and Werrien, in a direction I couldn't have anticipated. It kept the series fresh and made me want to keep reading. There were plenty of surprises that had me thinking, 'wow!'. Kristina and Werrien's journey in this book is about their survival and trying to figure out who's good/who's evil. The author does an excellent job of describing her characters, where the action is taking place, and how they feel as things unfold. I truly enjoyed this fantasy adventure and look forward to Book #4.
