How do they work? Simply hold the grip in your hand with "blades" sticking through the spaces between your fingers and start having fun. Though I do think it would look better if the blades curved over the front of your knuckles so it looked more like they were actually coming out of your knuckles just like Wolverine, it's a design approach that would be harder to pull off with a softer substance like Nerf foam without compromising the product's structural integrity. And since everyone has different-sized hands, that approach would require different sized versions of this product to fit each buyer. And that probably sounds like too much work for what is supposed to be a toy. Part of the grip is still visible even when holding it with a clenched fist, as you can see in my photo. The product warning is also printed on the outside of one of the blades, which also ruins the look a little too.
I do still prefer these claws over other toy versions of Wolverine's claws. The big, bulky ones with the retractable telescoping claws are exactly that - big and bulky, and probably the least realistic-looking ones of the bunch. The cheap Halloween costume ones just don't look very good either and probably won't hold up to extended play since they probably weren't designed for that sorta thing. Since these claws are made of Nerf foam, they were designed for play (just don't stab people or animals with these or any other product, that type of behavior is frowned upon in real life), and you might even be permitted to use them if you're playing a game of Humans Vs. Zombies. Just check with your game moderators to make sure Nerf blade weapons are allowed first. So if you're looking for some relatively safe fun pretending to be Wolverine, get these claws and get your Nerfy Berserker Rage on, bub.
