For developers in the countries like the US, UK or Germany, ongoing events and communities provide a lot of exposure to the indie games as well as offers ongoing education on marketing it. Whereas with the small number of events or no events at all in developing nations have left newbie developers with practically no resource or support from communities. This book is incredibly helpful in introduces you to key concepts from the game marketing & advertising world. It gives you an in-depth training in doing 'Game PR that works'. All on your own, even if you don't know anything about marketing at all!

Good book in a specialised niche, in addition to suggestions on how to ensure your indie game gets a headstart after release, the author also gives excellent advice on how to market any indie product in today's connected and online market. It is evident that he knows his stuff as well as how to position your indie game for success in a crowded market. Nice to see an indie game marketing book that gets into discussing Key Performance Indicators and using actual analytics to improve your marketing strategy. I don't think enough indies focus on the marketing side. They build their game, throw it out to the world and then just expect the world to come knocking on their door. This book lays out those important tasks needed to get your game noticed. Perhaps it's nothing new if you've been down that road before, but certainly informative for newcomers and a great reminder for veteran indies.

Years ago every time the word marketing game or marketing anything came in a conversation, I just pretended to listen.

I used to believe that if you have got incredibly appealing visuals, fun story , addictive gameplay and killer game design; there's nothing that is going to stop your game from becoming hit. At least I expected this from games that usually top the charts.

But when you head over to the App Stores and you see games with thousands and thousands of downloads are just vomited fest of another hit games. I discovered many games that just include names of two famous games for ASO. I discovered games that rip off the game design of one or two games and haven't even put effort on visuals either.

These games were still going over thousands of downloads.

Putting your game in front of a massive audience and exposure is the most important thing. Definitely, there was more to it than just ASO.

The obvious answer was marketing. But how to market your game with little or no budget? Where do you start?

And when you don't have the budget for marketing, besides 2-3 social media sites and few hashtags, New indie developers has got nothing to reach out to the massive audience.

I am immensely grateful, that Amol Wagh with his experience and expertise has put together this gem of a book. It's an incredible guide and map for indie game developers like me.

Throughout this book, Amol frees your mind from many myths and shows a strategic most importantly super practical way that's easy and fun. He helps to create a blueprint for marketing your game, even if it's just in the conception phase.

In this book, I learned how there are many big things and many little things you've to get right. And how even little things like one word can make a huge difference.

While reading the book I kept realizing how many things we did wrong in our first game.

First of all I think it's important to mention that this book is an easy read. Many times when you face marketing materials they are hard to understand, they are hard to imagine working in real life. With this book it's not like that. You will get a real picture about how to prepare your marketing materials and how you should contact the media with them. You will understand some basic definitions and you will realize what should you do and what should you avoid for the success. It's not an easy and trivial task, tho it's not impossible either,- after this book tells you the principles!
Marketing is a profession. Don't think that you will know everything about it after reading this book, learning never stops. Nobody will cover the full topic for you! But I strongly recommend you to buy this release because it gives you an authentic and effective guide to market your indie game for a low budget. This price is nothing for the gold that it contains.

As a game developer, there are so many things you are never told about concerning marketing your game. Well you are in luck! This book is full of so many awesome secrets and terminology and advice that I kinda feel it's my marketing go to book to start your journey and as well as a reference for later. I have been deep in it for weeks and can see myself using this for years. On a side note, I have also crossed paths with the author on Twitter and I will just say he is most honorable and approachable.
