Most helpful customer reviews on Amazon.com
I bought some acrylic paint; (light mocha-face+neck, dark mocha-shading, and brown-hair+beard), to make it life like. 1 coat of paint was enough to hide the white material.
I also made a body out of PVC tubing and wire mesh. After putting clothes on it and propping it up on a chair on my patio, it now serves as a 'Scarecrow' for would-be thieves taking the many tools and materials I store in containers on my patio.
A very strange use for this product, I know. Creepy as hell, but it seems to work. LOL I've heard my neighbors saying "Hi Brian" as they walk passed my patio entrance, even though I am having lunch in the kitchen !
This would be a great Halloween project, too FYI.
The male styrofoam head was perfect, however! It's the EXACT same size as my own head, so it turned out PERFECT for the application. (I also love the addition of ears, which the female heads mysteriously lack.)
The foam is lightweight and still dense. I've had it for a few months and it does not show any wear or tear in the design. I will buy another when the day comes.
However, unlike the other reviews for this product, I find this head to be slightly small; for the record, I wear hats around 23". Also, I intend to use the head as an alternative to live volunteers when making plaster masks/hats, so the size may be better suited for the task of displaying headgear that can be quickly attached and removed without hassle. My concern, again, has more to do with accurately approximating human features to fit real life people.
My other concern with the order was it being delivered in a plastic bag (instead of a box), which seems a risky choice for something so easily dented. Fortunately, mine showed up with no major issues -- just some residue marks from the sticky bubble wrap it was wrapped in. Nonetheless, the potential to get one that has been smashed by a larger box or a careless handler seems high.
