"Full of captivating personal anecdotes from inside the national security vault...McRaven's lessons, like his commencement speech, extend far beyond his bed-making. He devotes the 10-chapter book to lessons about moving beyond failure, standing up to bullies and giving others hope."―Washington Post
"McRaven...has taken the genesis of what he learned during SEAL training and his nearly four decades in Navy Special Operations into a thin, powerful book."―USA Today
"Exquisitely simple...superb, smart, and succinct ideas."―Forbes

One of the all time best speeches ever given. Do as we did and order a dozen or more and keep them tucked away for those occasions when you need a perfect gift for someone. You won't be sorry.
I love the energy the book gives out. It's compassionate and strong, yet does not ignore the, what sometimes seems to be 'easy way out'. The writer just gives you the strength and energy and wisdom that 'giving up' is not really an option, and that there are always ways not to give up.
He builds your mental strength just by reading about the examples and prepares your mind to want to try and adapt some of the strategies and thinking used and explained in this book.
I am not American neither have I ever been in the Army... yet I found so much what this book gave me that I re-ordered it for some very special people in my life. I know I will come back to it over and over again.
Written by a senior Navy Seal this is written with the no frills, straight talking military style that helps it cut through the superfluous and reach your mind immediately.
It covers a range of topics and helps you face adversity and ways to treat people and behave in general. Some ideas, on face value, seem pretty simple; like the title Make Your Bed, but this helps demonstrate a mindset and also sets you up for the day having already achieved something to build upon. It is simple, but effective.
I'm guessing many self motivated people will be reading this book and may already do some of the things mentioned or think in ways that he encourages, but it is still good to read them in a short, accessible way.
I read this in a short space of time and came away inspired and motivated and that is exactly what you want from books of this type. It will be groundbreaking and life changing for some and a little extra kick and boost for others. Either way it is an enjoyable read, with plenty to offer.
Simplistic in many ways but then as humans we too often make things complicated or over analyse.
Nothing new to anyone who has worked in a team or played team sports.
Yes it is about one mans life and the experiences he has had, however; those experiences are not of the ordinary kind.
Mr McRaven is a determined and inspirational man, I for one am grateful he chose to share his experiences.
It was an easy read and some great quotes to carry forward in life.
I really enjoyed it and have passed it along to a friend to read too.
