Painfully plagued with persistent problems. Transfer rates at dial-up networking speeds. Avoid anything with the VIA 6421A.

Nothing but problems... I've got a strong feeling that the AMD 7-series Northbridge and Southbridge 7-series are just incompatible with the Via chipset on this card. I tried E. V. E. R. Y. .. T. H. I. N. G. .. P. O. S. S. I. B. L. E. and no matter what, I couldn't get it to read from / write to any of my drives any faster than approximately 28KBps-30KBps (yes, slower than modem download speeds) My drives are as follows: a Kingston SataII 120GB SSD, a PNY SataIII 240GB SSD, as well as one 1TB WD Black, one 2TB Hitachi UltraStar, two 1TB WD Green, and a eSata Seagate 500G 2.5" (laptop) drive (used for transfers from other PCs etc - all SATAIII and non-SSD). There was no way I was going to sit there and wait to install any operating system at that speed. Even an attempt with WinXP-SP2 (due to it's small size, and it's less than 1 minute install time with my machine NORMALLY) had me sitting there for over 2 hoursand the file copying wasn't even at 50%. Needless to say, I'm not using the card, and I'm just suffering without one of my 1TB Greens and one of my DVD-+RW's, which is bugging the cr4p out of me lol. Oh, just so people know, I'm a Certified Microsoft Systems Engineer, Microsoft Partner, CCNA, CCNA+i, I could go on, but I won't - and have been building PCs since I took apart my Ti-99/4a and taught myself how to put it back together. Your results may vary, but beware. Google the chipset on the card - VIA 6421A - you'll see the plethora of persistent problems plaguing people. *twitch* Pretty pathetic. Have a great day/night depending where you are :)
As an additional SATA port

It failed to function especially the PCI port in conjunction with mounted onboard SATA drives. I put It in my junk bin. Might be useful with older boards.

Got it for a xp build, however the motherboard does not like the card, it will not give an option to boot IDE off of this card. Sort of disappointed.

The card description on Amazon suggests that it has a floppy drive controller along with the IDE controller. It doesn't, I have 2 hard drives that are only SATA 150 which this controller is okay. Other than that, there is nothing on this card to brag about.
I like the product
