About the Author

Irving Stone was born in San Francisco in 1903 and received his B. A. from the University of California, Berkeley in 1923 and his Master's degree from the University of Southern California in 1924. He wrote plays and supported himself by writing detective stories until the publication of Lust for Life, his first novel, in 1934. Stone called his work 'bio-history' and based his novels on meticulous and extensive research into the lives of the historical characters at the heart of his novels. He married his editor, Jean Factor, in 1934. He founded the Academy of American Poets in 1962. He died in Los Angeles in 1989.

5.0 out of 5 stars "TRANSCENDENTAL BEAUTY"
By Manendra on 26 January 2018
OSHO said about this book -:
"It is a novel based on the life of Vincent Von Gogh. Stone has done such a tremendous work that I don't remember anybody else doing the same. Nobody has written so intimately about somebody else, as if he is writing from his very own being. LUST FOR LIFE is not just a novel, it is a spiritual book. It is spiritual in my sense, because to me all dimensions of life have to be incorporated into a single synthesis; only then one is spiritual. The book is written so beautifully that Stone couldn't able to transcend it. There are hundreds of novels written on the lives of artists, poets, painters, but none of them reaches to the height of LUST FOR LIFE. His prose is like poetry; it is of transcendental beauty for the simple reason that there has never been a man like Vincent van Gogh. That Dutch fellow was just inimitable! He stands alone. In the whole sky full of stars he shines alone, separately, uniquely in his own way.

1.0 out of 5 stars Hoax!!!
By Darshni Baghel on 29 October 2020
Not the original one!!!
Even the cover itself is different and seems like a used one.
The original book has 496 pages as mentioned in the details above while the one I received is having just 430 pages.
Print and the page quality is even worse.
