Advanced surface materials
Feel the difference
Using infrared technology, we studied the interaction between hand and keyboard, and then added advanced surface materials to strategic zones for improved durability and comfort. A hydrophobic coating helps keep hands from sticking to the palm rest. Double UV coating on the keys provides extra long life durability. In addition, fingerprint-resistant coating on the faceplate helps maintain a fresh look. Details make the difference.

Keyboard is awesome haven't bought it for gaming so don't know how dose it feels like while playing a game bought it for programming & graphic designing so we can also use those macro-keys to record our most used command to them.
Though it’s a gaming keyboard or rather sold as one, you don’t need to be a gamer to use one. I have used it for standard coding sessions with the backlight buttons and macro keys.
So, here’s a quick review of the features.
The LCD Screen
One look at the keyboard and your friends will know you are not using a standard keyboard and the backlit LCD screen is a part of that. You can use the built-in LCD screen as a clock, e-mail, news feed reader with RSS, timer or even for performance monitoring that shows CPU/RAM usage etc., which is what I used it for.
In general if you are playing music, the LCD screen will display song and track of music you are playing. For several games like Lord of Rings, the LCD screen will also display your player stats like health.
But, keep in mind that the screen is not full colour so don’t expect to play videos etc.
First, this is not a mechanical keyboard (the pictures do give that impression); it’s more of a hybrid between a scissor and membrane keyboard. Compared to a mechanical keyboard like Razer Blackwidow, which also is a great keyboard BTW, the keys are really quite and great for the nightly gaming/coding sessions.
Now, let me talk about the keys themselves, on the top the keyboard there are media playback buttons, three macro profiles, backlight button, macro record and a key to switch off e the ‘Windows’ key for un-interrupted gaming session, just in case you press the ‘Windows’ key by mistake and bring up the start menu. There are also keys for muting the microphone and headphone for the built-in sound card in the keyboard when you are gaming or a Skype session.
There are 18 G keys, which can be programmed to do anything like running macros etc. inside and outside games and apps like Photoshop by using the macro record button. To record macros and play them back you don’t need any additional software as they are built-in the keyboard, which also means you can program and playback back things even inside a game. So, for example while you are inside a game chat session you can just press macro record (MR) button followedwed by a G key like G17 and type ‘You are a jerk’ and then MR again. Now, you can press G17 anytime to send ‘You are a jerk’. All this without exiting the game :)
You can change the colours of the LED lighting on keyboard from anything from white to anything else you can think of. You can even have different one set for each game as well. However, you cannot have different colours for different keys.
The keyboard is compatible with pretty much all Windows versions XP, 7, 8.1, 10 and Mac OS 10.7+. You will need to download the latest drivers from Logitech site. There is no linux compatibility though, because of lack of drivers (you can use it as a standard keyboard however).
There are not many issues with this keyboard, there was some squeaking on the space bar, which does fix it self after some time; you also need to hit the centre of the space bar to register spaces. Of course, since I played around with the G19, I have liked that more but that’s 3 times the price of this keyboard.
All said and done, this keyboard is not cheap and is certainly not meant for an average user. I don’t use these keyboards much personally now as I have switched to ergonomic keyboards like Microsoft Sculpt, which are equally or more expensive but lack the feature sets of this keyboard.
However, that said if you are a gamer or a power user who needs to cut down on the keys you use, this keyboard is pretty much a very good buy any day. Oh yes, the G510 and G510s are pretty much the same keyboard, just a difference in styling, either is good enough. Get the one with the lower price :)
Hope this review helped you decide and buy.
