Born in 1959, Sanjay Chandra has a storyteller within him–every communication in his life was a story in itself! His books have won several awards.

Sanjay now sees stories all around him. Writing has become a passion, and he has finally become a storyteller. He writes blogs on socially relevant issues under the pseudonym Musings of a Pioneer. He has also written few poems and short stories. He hopes to publish these someday. His short story The Surgeon was a winning entry in a Write Contest and has been published in an anthology The Little White Book of Stories. He is also a traveller, an avid book lover, and an amateur photographer.

Sanjay also conducts talks and workshops in colleges and corporates to inculcate reading and writing as a habit.

This piece of memoir is worth reading. Its narrative technique is like a tranquil lake, softly flowing. The stories make you feel nostalgic in the way they are depicted. The 90s make us regret certain things which life has lost today. The narrator is a good entertainer through time travel. Yet, the book has universal appeal because the challenges faced by the people 30 years back persists even today. The "common man" can also face these challenges in a unique way. The writer has observation and makes the stories engaging:)

A eventful life within a short book

The author describes sixty years of his life in 150 pages. It's an eventful life with rich and varied experiences that I feel could have been a much bigger book (maybe even multiple books) that gives more detailed descriptions of the events and their backgrounds. As it is, the book cruises through six decades of the author's not-too-common life in a smooth and continuous flow that left me wishing for a more in-depth narrative.

This autobiographical book is the life story of an ordinary person born in an Indian middle class family that always cherished living with limited ambition and abundant protection. Path of life is almost set at birth and trading different path is no less than revolution. Author brings it so beautifully through his own story of life so far. From small town to global cities his life journey has been fascinating though with fair share of ups and downs. This makes the reading very absorbing. His simple and candid narration of life events from childhood to adolescence,
covering education, career choices is exciting. He has very skillfully told his story at every stage with vivid description of socioeconomic issues prevalent in the country at that point of time which has made it very contemporary and thus absorbing. He has truthfully brought out personal successes and failures with equal ease. Despite occasional setbacks how he has always displayed tenacious resolve and unflinching desires to trade a new path and be little uncommon is very inspiring.
In this silent pursuit, he has always found his wife alongside with rock solid support. Their resolve to break the barriers and free their children to pursue their dream is very touching.
The life story of a common man could be so compelling and inspiring, it is to be read to believe. Considering this to be a maiden attempt of the author, one is simply moved by the simplicity and honesty in telling a life story that can relate to millions of aspirational Indians. For this author deserves huge admiration.
One will be always curious to know the journey hence and hope the author shall oblige in time to come.

This book is a pleasant read and makes you feel that all the dreamers connect when they talk about the challenges that they face. The common man does have their own set of challenges. They do have their own set of solutions that come with unmatched persistence. This book by Sanjay Chandra comes with a super-strong first-person narrative about life, its events and the chronicles of chasing the dreams.

The book has a classic cover, the readability is easy and it makes for an engaging read. The whole plot of life is so relatable to people, as most of them have gone through the same phases of life. The events might be different, but never give up attitude makes it a promising book for young readers.

What I liked:
The narrative.
The connect that it has which is timeless and will connect with so many dreamers even today.

What could have been improved:
The flow of the chapters feels a bit slow in the middle, but it engages a reader to read more.

This book was a journey I'm glad I took. This novel makes you feel warm and fuzzy, and satisfied. There is a strange calmness to the way the author narrated his life. The writing was beautiful and serene. It was like the stories your grandfather would tell you, about old days, and you went on listening because it's so fascinating. This novel gave me an insight into life, friendship, love, the 90s, death and most importantly, about writing one's own destiny. I loved the subtle comparisons between the 90s and the present times, the way things have changed- they are too real, and maybe, a little saddening. It is a realisation that while many things have improved, there are some very beautiful things we have lost.

There was a slight lag in the middle of the narration, just for a few pages, but it picked up the usual pace once again.

This is a light, slow read. It's meant to calm you down. I would recommend it to people who would read it keeping this in mind. You will love it if you read it like the life of a person you know. It made me feel so blessed.
