VR Developer Mount
Put your duct tape away--the official Leap Motion mount for your Oculus Rift Development Kit is now available for purchase. Designed specifically to optimize stability and reliability for development environments, the Leap Motion Oculus Mount is a must-have tool for a more seamless and natural virtual reality (VR) experience.
A tiny device with huge possibilities
The Leap Motion Controller tracks both hands and all 10 fingers with pinpoint precision and incredible speed. That wide-open space between you and your computer is now yours—to play, create and explore. Reach into another world without actually touching anything.
Jump to the highest level before you even start
Get way, way, more into the game. Use your hands to move in any direction, with precision. Dive into realistic, 3D interaction at its best. Steer, slice, grab, push, pull, crush, and shoot with your hands and finger. Try popular games from Airspace like Fruit Ninja, and Cut the Rope, or new experiences like the music-driven game Drop chord and first-person shooter Blue Estate.
Make a masterpiece out of thin air
With the Leap Motion Controller, you’re the instrument. Strum, drum, sketch, draw, and paint with your fingers. Sculpt as easily as you would with clay. Use your own drumsticks to beat a snare drum in Airbeats. Flip through a recipe for lasagna without saucing up your screen. It’s the best way to create just about anything, because you do it by hand.
Reach for the stars. Grab a planet while you're at it
When you learn about the world through 3D motion-control, life really comes alive. Fly through 3D cities in Google Earth. Zoom around the planets in Solar Walk, take apart a skull in Cyber Science or simply catch up on the latest news in The New York Times app. When you reach into your computer, the learning never stops.
Explore the world in a whole new way
The Leap Motion Controller senses how you naturally move your hands and lets you use your computer in a whole new way. Point, wave, reach, grab. Pick something up and move it. Do things you never dreamed possible.
The Leap Motion Controller is sleek, light, and tiny (it’s just 3" long). It takes up hardly any space on your desk, but you use the space above it.
It works with what you already have. (Hands and fingers included.)
The Leap Motion Controller doesn’t replace your keyboard, mouse, stylus, or trackpad. It works with them, and without special adapters. With the Leap Motion software running, just plug it into the USB on your Mac or PC, and you’re off.
A little bit of magic - A lot of freedom
All that wide open space between you and your computer is now just for hands and fingers. The Leap Motion Controller senses almost every little move they make, and every big one, too. Technically speaking, it’s 8 cubic feet of interactive, three-dimensional space. But you can say it’s magic.
This is precisely about accuracy.
The Leap Motion Controller tracks all 10 fingers up to 1/100th of a millimeter. It's dramatically more sensitive than existing motion control technology. That's how you can draw or paint mini masterpieces inside a one-inch cube.
It’s all in your reach – and grasp and grip.
It’s a super-wide 150° field of view and a Z-axis for depth. That means you can move your hands in 3D, just like you do in the real world. With Leap Motion apps, you can reach out and grab objects. Move them around. Even change your perspective.
When you move, it moves.
The Leap Motion Controller can track your movements at a rate of over 200 frames per second. That’s how the action on your screen keeps up with your every move.
Peel Off Sticker
Remove the sticker from the top of the controller.
Plug Into Your Computer
Use the USB cable included in the box. Shiny side of the controller faces up and the green light faces towards you.
Place controller in front of you. Make room to rest your elbow.
From the manufacturer
Tiny Device. Huge Possibilities
The Leap motion controller is sleek, light, and small - just 3 inches long. It takes up hardly any room on your desk, but has a wide 150° field of view, and transforms the space above into a 3D interface for your hands. It works alongside your keyboard, mouse, stylus, or trackpad for a richer and more natural 3D computing experience. With the Leap motion software running, just plug the device into the USB port on your PC, and you’re ready to start exploring. (Legacy support for Mac is also available.)
The Leap motion controller uses infrared cameras and highly complex mathematical algorithms to translate hand and finger movements into 3D input. This unique approach allows Leap motion technology to be significantly more accurate than other motion-control technologies - and it’s constantly improving. With free, automatic software updates, you can always have access to the latest features and enhancements.
Try your Hand at Something New
Compose a tune or dissect a spider. Soar through the sky like a superhero. Reach out and grab a virtual heart. Sculpt clay with your hands. These applications and more are available from the Leap motion gallery.
With the introductory app shortcuts, your computer becomes a gesture-controlled digital command center. Play your favorite music and videos, scroll through web pages and documents, or switch between apps with the wave of a hand.

Google Earth supports it directly, but is too sensitive, and you'll quickly lose control of the UI.
The apps on the Leap Motion website are interesting toys. Kids might enjoy them.

I wouldn't quite recommend this for entertainment unless you are pairing it with an Occulus Rift as the amount of compatible games are still quite limited. For development purposes I think this is worth exploring as there are assets and libraries available online to get you going. I learned a lot about interactive development so I personally think it's a great learning and development experience.
Leap Motion has recently released their new Orion assets which greatly improves accuracy and precision so I think it is a good time to buy it.
Seems I have some infrared sources at home that interferes with the operation. I am still trying to track that down.
without calibration, it worked 90% at the office, Calibration will make it sub-millimeter for sure. Tracking is fast.
Downside: there are no apps installed with the original setup to control windows. Free apps on the app store for it are available and one or two are fairly well written. Quite a few apps for the system. My expectations were high, but once I saw how this works I realized, I expected too much. There is no magic.
Only for people who like to experiment new stuff and explore new area.
