Though it is perfect for my daily routines, there are a few downsides to this monitor:
1) Poor upscaling of 1080p video. While in 4K, if you try playing a 1080p video, this monitor really struggles to upscale. So, any upscaling/downscaling, make sure that you do it in your computer. If you intend to watch movies/videos in full screen, you may be disappointed. (I have only tried HDMI so far. I am yet to try display port)
2) The audio out of ARC is not on par with the audio directly out of laptop headphone jack. When connected to speakers, the audio from laptop's headphone jack out performed the audio from ARC jack of this monitor.
Now, coming to the PROs of this monitor:
This monitor certainly produced very clear and crisp fonts and images. Given that I wear progressive lenses, I had absolutely no problem working on this monitor sitting up close or sitting a little farther away. The colour rendering, anti reflection etc are all just right for daily work. I have not tried gaming, so I can't speak of it.
Previously, I tried the BenQ GW2480 monitor, which was 24 inch 1080p monitor. But I had quite some difficulty with it. No matter how position my sitting, the BenQ's was fuzzy because it was 1080p and my progressive lenses just did not find any good position for best viewing.
Get the 27 inch model if its available for reasonable prices. With the 24 inch model, the fonts are too small and I had to bump the scaling to 175% for optimal viewing. (The lesser the scaling, the better it is). With 27 inch monitor, you should be able to work at 150% scaling. But if you do consider going to 27 inch model, try to find a curved monitor if you prefer to sit up close for working.
The Onscreen Control is very useful .. especially if you are programming or multi-tasking or graphic designing or a student using the computer for learning while going through video/training material on one half and working on the other half.
The monitor has a fairly decent amount of tilt. The monitor stands about 10 cm from table top. It is not height adjustable. But the tilt will provide enough flexibility to give an appropriate viewing angle. This is much better positioning than the BenQ GW2480 with regards to height and tilt. (Ofcourse, the build quality of BenQ is way better). This LG model does not look super premium...but is decent enough.
The joy stick to adjust monitor settings is smooth, easy and intuitive unlike the BenQ which was very non-intuitive.
Easy access to all the HDMI/Display Port/ Audio Jack. Easily reachable if you need to quickly switch connections. No hard to reach places.
Note: I have read some reviews saying that this monitor is better than MacBook Pro's Retina display. May be that's the case for 27 inch versions. But comparing this 24 inch model with my 13 inch MacBook Pro's Retina display, the Retina display is better than this monitor. However, the difference is not to an extent that will make you eager to go back to retina display at every opportunity. You won't miss the Retina display. Working on this monitor is as pleasing as working on the Retina display. I use this for both Windows and Macs. As far as the appearance, with this monitor, the Windows is now not that far from MacBook as it used to be. Prior to this monitor, the MacBook Pro was always my go to machine. But this monitor reduced the gap between Windows and Mac significantly.
Apparently, LG has increased the MRP of this model from Rs.27,000 (in 2018) to Rs.31,500 (in 2020). While the price of electronics and display panels has drastically dropped over the past three years, surprisingly, LG has increased the MRP. If you are not in a rush, you should wait for a good deal or better offer from Samsung etc. I strongly believe that the price will come down to Rs.15,000 within 6 months (or soon after the COVID situation resolves and things return to normalcy).

1. Setup - Easy. It took just 15 minutes and no youtube videos to set this monitor up. Mind you, it comes with HDMI cable, I had to purchase an additional Mini DP to DP port cable for my laptops to work.
2. Macbook Pro - I have a macbook pro retina model 2015, the display is very crip and colors are accruate. Infact, after the built in retina display, this was the most accurate color i saw on an external monitor. It supports resolution upto 3830 x 2160 but, on the macbook, the windows and fonts become too small to be really useful.
Trying to watch 4k youtube videos, the book started getting extremely hot and so I avoided it.
I am using it 2K resolution now, closest to retina display. Documents, Photos, background wallpapers, etc..beautifully rendered on the screen.
Netflix and Prime video on Safari browser at 2k resolution, no issues at all.
Hotstar live stream - again no issues at all. So overall, i give thumbsup to this monitor with macbook pro.
2. Windows 10 - I also have access to a Windows 10 laptap from work. It had a terrible built-in display but, this monitor suddenly made it look beautiful. Able to use it at max resolution of 3840 x 2160; Windows has the ability to zoom up the font to 150% and it does look beautiful and very accurate. Suddenly, my love was windows has grown that i am right now using it as my primary device with this monitor.
4K videos - It struggled. too many stutters.
Other than that - all videos on youtube, netflix, prime and hotstar - fantastic.
3. Brightness and other monitor issues - Not so many so far. I am not seeing any overaly bleeding even if the screen goes too black - lets say seeing a dark scene on a movie.
The anti-glare is pretty good. the monitor holds good both on bright sunlight days and with indoor lights(cool daylight and warm daylight)
Build quality is quite solid as well. I really need to bang the keyboard very hard for monitor to shake or vibrate. I have found the stand very sturdy.
4. Issues - Not so many so far but, height adjustments or tilt..i don't know..i just could not get it done. I was scared to put too much pressure so never tried it. Documetation is very poor and no seal on warranty slip. You need to register it with LG's website for warranty thing to work. No Sound from the monitor as well. So I am using bluetooth speakers with my laptop instead.
Overall, i am pleased with the 3 weeks that I have spent on this monitor, now hoping i don't get to see any build quality issues or pixel issues 6 months, 12 months and so on..down the line.
It's 2023, @25k Much Better Monitor are available.
But Only option with resolution.
Model Should be upgraded.
4K is usable only over Display Port as the HDMI specs are very outdated and frame rates are limited to 30FPS at UHD/4k Resolutions.
Top reviews from other countries
I also wanted something that was 4k capable, in the 25" to 29" size range, and of course something that would not break my budget. After spending a few months reading reviews of various models, I found that the LG 27UL500-W 27-Inch best matched my wants and needs. On Prime Day, Amazon discounted the price further, so I placed an order for a set ($279 ea).
Setup: Very easy. To conserve desk space, I purchased a WALI Dual LCD Monitor Fully Adjustable Desk Mount Stand that had two arms. I had no issues attaching the monitors to the desk mount and running cables from the monitor to PC/outlets.
Fit and Finish: I have not seen any bezel issues where they were pealing apart. They are not the thinnest and are about .25” around the top/sides. The bottom is wider. Since I use a desk mount stand, I have no comment about the stands that came with the monitors (they are still bagged). I like that LG put a toggle for the screen controls instead of a row of buttons.
Picture: The picture quality so far is very good. I have not seen the light bleed a lot of commentators have noted.
Ports: The LG 27UL500-W 27-inch has 1 display port (v1.2) and 2 HDMI ports (v2.0). No DVI or RGB15 ports. I assumed I that I could use DVI HDMI/DP or RGB HDMI/DP adapters. Neither RGB (which I expected) nor DVI adapters (which I did NOT expect) work with these monitors. So those that have older PCs/Laptops/KVM switches may be out of luck if the equipment does not support a DisplayPort or HDMI video connector (on my initial review, I deducted a star for this).
So, my 4-port RGB KVM switch will not work (this was expected, and I am had my eye on a replacement 4-port HDMI KVM switch that supports dual monitor). For the PCs, it’s a matter of finding cheap replacement video cards that are PCIe x16 with 2x DisplayPort or 2x HDMI ports (but cheap ones do not seem common) and enough VRAM to drive this monitor (from what I read 1 GB should be more than adequate for 1080p since I do not plan to use these PCs for high end gaming). I did find that a passive HDMI to DisplayPort works so integrating a new HDMI KVM switch should not be an issue.
Overall, I have been pleased with my LG 27UL500-W 27-Inch purchases. I also have a plan to work out my KVM/Cable/Monitors. If all goes well, I will likely raise my rating from 4 to 5 stars.
Update 05/05/2020:
I am raising my rating by a star - No image, video or audio channel issues have occurred with either monitor since I purchased them July 2019.
These monitors are in near daily use, are powered on/off often and subject to resolution changes a few times a month. The audio channel is constantly used through one of the monitors for steaming video from a ROKU that is connected to one of the monitors.
I fully integrated these two monitors to use with a 4 dual port HDMI KVM switch. My only disappointment was that an old ROKU SE did not work with the monitors via the HDMI port. This was most likely due to the ROKU SE inability to support 4K. Using a ChromeCast and a ROKU streaming stick had no issues with either LG monitors).
