While at first glance, it may be in your best interest to shop around. Know that when you purchase RAM from Komputerbay, you're getting Grade-A brand name computer memory. Cheap computer memory, while possibly being compatible, can cause system crashes, error codes in your computer, and even damage to your motherboard! Other sellers may offer you similar looking products for a few cents or a dollar less, but here's the scoop on why: they sell cheap-grade memory and they don't test the modules before shipping! This ends up costing you time and money. Trust when you buy from Komputerbay, you are getting top of the line product from a top of the line company.
We test every module before it leaves the building, and back all of our purchases up with a LIFETIME WARRANTY!
- PC2-5300/PC2-5400 (667MHz)
- 240 Pin
- Desktop memory Upgrade
- Non ECC
- Non parity
- Lifetime Warranty
Komputerbay's strategy is simple - we have eliminated all the distributors/brokers/agent/etc so as to bring the goods directly from the manufacturer to the end user. By doing so - ours costs go down which in turn brings the selling price down. As far as the warranty is concerned- it's even simpler - the warranty is being provided by the manufacturer who in this situation also happens to be the seller. No more looking for manufacturer's contact information anymore!

I find it quite ironic that the seller boasts about " Cheap computer memory, while possibly being compatible, can cause system crashes, error codes in your computer, and even damage to your motherboard! Other sellers may offer you similar looking products for a few cents or a dollar less, but here's the scoop on why: they sell cheap-grade memory and they don't test the modules before shipping! This ends up costing you time and money. Trust when you buy from Komputerbay, you are getting top of the line product from a top of the line company." BUT yet when I purchased THEIR ram, that's exactly what happened to me... Next time I'm in need of computer parts, I'll look elsewhere than Komputerbay.
I was going to return this product but I would have to return both sticks for a refund to Amazon. While I did wish for a partial refund or a replacement, one of them is working wonderfully in my PC & I don't want to return both of them. I just wanted half my money back & they can have the defective one, or simply replace it & let me send the bad one back!?! Luckily, when I tried to contact the seller about my order it directed me to Amazon (since this is a Prime Product) and when I went through w/ the contact request & spoke to a lady on the phone, she took care of my issue. I really wish that both of these had worked properly! Looks like it's a gamble when ordering from Komputerbay.
I wouldn't purchase again, nor would I necessarily recommend but only because half my order didn't function. The stick that is, seems to be working very well & I'm very pleased with it and the performance of my computer since it's been installed.
I will give major kudos to Amazon & the nice lady I spoke with for taking care of me when I had a problem with an order (which is very rarely) & for making me feel like a valued customer!! 5 stars for their customer service!
This product has an EXCELLENT support group backing it. They will answer questions & respond to issues via email as needed. I have also asked them to verify the proper memory device for my PC BEFORE I bought them. Not only was I wrong but they recommended the proper devices for my PC. You also need to know how much memory your operating system can handle. Example: Windows XP 32 BIT won't boot if you have 4 GB of memory, even if the PC supports it.
Komputerbay offered the memory option I wanted at a good price. I've seen the company before on Amazon Prime, so I was confident that they were a good seller. Even though I bought 4 GB, I didn't realize that my XP 32-bit machine (Dell Optiplex G520) would only use 3 GB. I only installed one of the sticks and used the 1GB stick I had already. I guess I'll save it in case the KB memory dies on me (I hope not). Interestingly, they sent me a thank your for being "brave" for buying from their company. I'm hoping that they're just a small, growing company with a humble attitude; I would buy from them again (and they had fast shipping compared to another company that took 2 weeks and then sent me 256MB sticks vs the 512MBs that I paid for).
This is probably order ten or twelve from Komputerbay, and I have purchased the gambit of speeds and sizes and am happy to suggest this brand to anyone in the market as I've yet to have a problem with their products and their prices are great. Kudos Komputerbay!
