It is not a very good fit for a 17 inch laptop. I am writing this using my 17 in Asus laptop in conjunction with the table, but it is significantly bigger than the "cooling area," not leaving me much room to use my mouse (I don't care for the touch pad and prefer to use a wireless mouse). I have my laptop overlapping the edge of the table by about 1 inch, and overlapping the mousepad area by about 2-2.5 inches. I'm left with about 4 or so inches of space to move my mouse around. And it works out for me...sort of....but I was hoping for a little better.
Even though my laptop is too big for the table though, it does keep it cool. The fan is very quiet and comes with a USB cable that you can store inside the table while not in use. I took cue from another user and started storing my external hard drive in that little compartment while using my laptop too. It keeps things neat and out of my way. And so I'm not sitting on the sofa surrounded by extraneous cables and techie paraphernalia haha. I'm also able to keep my cell phone near me and charge it using one of the USB ports on the side of the table. That's a nice convenience. I can't attest much to the LED light because I haven't had any use for it.
When moving the table top to an inclined position, my laptop, although big for the table, stays in place with two plastic tabs that pop up. I enjoy this position, it is very comfortable to put the table on my lap without using the legs while sitting in bed this way.
Overall, this is a very sturdy table. You might be weary because it is simply plastic, but the sturdy build is one thing I was impressed with when I took it out of the box. I just won't recommend it for 17 inch laptops. Look around for something bigger. I'll continue to use this because I paid for it and would like some use out of it, but in an ideal world, it would fit my computer better.
It has a lot of great features that make it perfect. The legs and table itself are sturdy and I don't worry about it collapsing with my computer on it. The legs fold out to two different heights: a moderate height that is good for sitting in bed and putting the table at about waist level and fully extended which would put the table about neck level while sitting. The adjustable height makes it very accommodating to just about any user in any situation. I've used this table in bed, sitting on the floor in the living room, put the laptop table on my desk and on a table to use while standing, sitting on the couch and even in the car on a short road trip with friends. The choice of heights made each situation comfortable. I have even been able to sit in front of it with my legs crossed and still use the table easily.
The table has a built-in fan to help cool your laptop, which I would definitely consider my favorite feature of this table. A USB cord comes with the table with a standard sized USB connection at one in and a small connection at the other. The small connection plugs into a small USB port on the table itself and the other into a USB port on your laptop. As soon as you plug the cord in to both, a fan comes on and runs the entire time the cord is attached. This is a fantastic feature if you use this table with a gaming laptop, during hot weather or if you have an older laptop that is prone to getting a bit hot during use. That extra bit of cooling is a very nice perk of the table that helps protect the investment you have in your laptop.
My second favorite feature of the table are the 4 USB ports. If you have the included USB cable attached to your laptop, you can plug any USB device into one of those four ports and that device will be accessible to your computer. It's an instant 4 extra ports for your computer which comes in very handy if you use external drives, attach your phone to your laptop, flash drives, etc. on a regular basis like I do. There is also a light on the table that you can raise and move to meet your needs. I've never used the light but have turned it on once and it was bright.
The right side of the table has a built-in mouse pad. The surface is soft and my mice move very freely over it with no trouble at all. The mouse pad lifts up to reveal a storage area where you can keep the USB cord that comes with the table, pens, a small notebook, flash drives or whatever else you might use frequently while on your laptop. There is a stand under the mouse pad that can be raised and held up to various heights with a plastic foot so the mouse pad area can be angled to your needs. The same holds true for the base where your laptop sits. It can be raised so that your computer is sitting at an angle. There are lift up feet at the bottom of the laptop section that you can raise that will hold your computer in place so it will not slide off the table.
The size of the table is suitable for just about anyone, I would imagine. I have an Alienware gamer laptop and two Dell Inspiron laptops and all three fit on this table just fine. My Alienware fits perfectly on the laptop portion of the table but the two Dell laptops extend about an inch or so onto the mouse pad. Despite this, I can still comfortably use the mouse with my Dell's. The only time mousing is a little strained is if I have a flash drive or USB external drive plugged into the laptop itself on the side of the computer next to the mouse.
Overall, I would say this is a wonderful laptop table that adapts very easily to just about any situation you need it for. Mine is used every day and it has been very durable, comfortable and easy to use. I am planning on buying another one or two to have just in case anything happens to my current table. It's one of my favorite amazon purchases because it has helped me in so many ways.
