Senior Inspector Saralkar is back at his desk after spending a rather annoying week at a ‘Secrets of Living’ course, especially for police officers and he is itching for some action now. Luckily, an exciting new case turns up right away! The body of Ashish Karve, a local businessman has been found in the back seat of his car. To PSI Motkar, Saralkar’s diminutive assistant, it seems to be a straightforward case of suicide. But Saralkar’s sharp mind is agog with the dark possibility of murder. As the case unfolds Saralkar finds enough motives for people, be it Ashish’s business partner, his wife, his brother, his friend, his brother-in-law or even strangers to want to do away with him!Is the senior inspector becoming too fanciful in his imagination or is he on the right track in assuming that Ashish was killed?Delve into this deliciously thrilling whodunit and walk along with Senior Inspector Saralkar and PSI Motkar as they set out to sift the truth from lies and half truths.

"Killing Ashish Karve" is a murder mystery by Salil Desai. It is 259 pages long and has a rating of 3.76/5 on Goodreads..As the name suggests, it is a mystery about the murder of Ashish Karve. It is a police procedural, depicting the process of crime solving by Pune police. Senior Inspector Saralkar is the lead investigator and is accompanied by Inspector Motkar. Together they bring the criminals to justice..👉🏻This book was like a bit of fresh air on all the heavy duty reading that I have been doing lately. Saralkar's sarcastic humour is just what was needed to make the book an interesting read. Motkar, the Watson to Saralkar's Sherlock, is essential to his Senior's sometimes dark mood. Overall the book was well constructed, without being heavy handed. I could guess the a few points that was essential to the solution, but that was entirely because I have read too many mystery books, and who dunnit matters less now than how they are caught.

Killing Ashish Karve by Salil Desai is the first book in a book series/trilogy starring Senior Inspector Saralkar and Inspector Motkar.
I didn't expect this one to be so good, the author is not so well-known plus I hadn't heard about the publisher. Disappointments: Firstly, The author has written the book thinking everyone knows Pune well enough, like the P1-P2 stuff. Secondly, the killer was a bit obvious. Lastly, I don't know how someone can miss inspecting the clue that led to Ashish's killer.
I hope my review helped you.

Good narrative style and good English that you would enjoy reading. I could make from the beginning who is the possible murderer and it came out to be so. Plot is fine but narrative to longish. Though I enjoyed reading this crime thriller on my Kindle book reader but it was not that gripping story for me.

The least you expect from a thriller/suspense genre fiction is to keep you hooked till the last page. Anything above that is a bonus. This novel too has a pretty simple narration and language but the plot is taut. There are sincere attempts at: a) humanizing the main characters and b) making the whole police procedural bit realistic, which as I said, is a bonus. This is what makes it more than an average page turner.
