About the author

I am as dark as the nightmare you have had and as sweet as the sugar of your last chocolate shake. There is no mediocrity for me; I am either all of it or nothing. I detest the magical hustle-bustle of city life as I belong to an old school. I find my bliss in the world of proses, poetry and stories. I give a damn how the world perceives me as it took me a great deal to wear my scars on sleeve and accepting my flaws as strength. My world revolves in and around books and I am an avid reader. I travel to places I read, I make friends with characters I fall in love and I fight with demons I get to face every day in people.

Another book for all the poetry lovers out there!
I had high hopes while picking up 'Kaurageously Yours' and I should say the book lived up to my expectations.
You may not connect with every poem but there will be poems which you will surely relate to and will evoke emotions in you. I have gone through a lot of different situations which resonates with those in the poems.
The poems are on various topics including love, betrayal, social issues, pandemic etc.
Like in her first book, this one also has poems which are straight from her heart and containing a lot of emotions.
I am impressed by the way the book is personalised by author's own artwork in between poems.
The poet places ample importance on self-love which is encouraging.
Recommending this book to all those who are looking for simple and yet effective poetry collection to read!

I love it when I could completely feel a book, and that is exactly what this one did. I have went through a lot of different situations which resonates with those in the poems and each poem gave me an insight into how I could have responded to the different adversities I have faced in my life. The poet, as in her first collection, places ample importance on self love which is encouraging. The poems at times lacks the structure and order traditionally associated with poetry, but I think it is the best way to represent the raw thoughts and emotions shared in the book.
I say this cuz this book had made me flutter through a galore of emotions. It made me smile, cry, introspect, rediscover my self and evoke my thoughts out at the same time. I read it slow to absorb it all!
Kaurageously Yours is a poetry collection which hold abounding of poems with best titles which deals seperately about love, care, compassion, anxiety, self worth, self vulnerability, relationships, women empowerment, hope, nature, humanity, faith and the list goes on. I was astonished to come across her verses on current situations on corona, lockdown and the farmers protest. My favourite one is "Tick Tock; My Clock".
Did I tell you about the beautiful illustrations in the book? You'll be surprised to know that all the exiquisite and elegant paintings in the book are the art of the author itself! even the one on the cover page! which makes the book even more precious. I wonder how talented and strong women Gurpreet Dhariwal is!

I'm enjoying her thought process from poem to poem. I liked how she incorporated her drawings in her book. Her paintings and drawings are unique and beautiful!

That I can read and write from the soul” - Gurpreet Dhariwal
That it is for us all - Gurpreet.
Thank you for bringing to life another magical book of words, this time enhanced with your splashes of artistic colours.
Comforting hugs within each piece, especially those filled with your fiery passion. Rage that holds so much love… it radiates into reality.
I savour each moment I dip back into your book, as do my senses. All six of them
smiling with your presence on the page.
Thanks for writing.
Thanks for being you.

The answer is "yes" for the poetry of Gurpreet Dhariwal. When I open the next page, I'm always anticipating a worthwhile read and never feeling disappointed at the end of it. Examples of my delight?
* A laugh at an ex-lover singing jingles of himself.
* An "ah" from pain as a resource to a dead soul.
* A nod at the notion of self-abhorrence as a dwelling place.
All three prods can appear in a single poem. These ones did in my favorite, "Capitalize This."
I like roller coasters. It's fun to take a seksylicious curve, climb the heights of belonging to heaven, then plummet into demonic mockery which benumbs the screaming of your own name. All humanity recognizes the chasm between sacred and profane. Gurpreet bridges it with a God who blesses a sick mind and saves a degraded soul from an ash hole (I know that bully). Some collections of poetry come in a single flavor. This book is a veritable Baskin-Robbins.
Gurpreet writes poems I like to come back to. It's not always easy to understand the reasons behind liking something, but I'll give it a shot. Somehow this young woman from South Asia raises feelings intimately familiar to a white-bearded man in Pennsylvania. It's like viewing a distant planet through a telescope and finding my own heart. I've never smelled the fragrance of another lover in the lust of a cheating spouse, but yearning to burn the memory of it is kindred to my own unchained humiliations refusing to stay locked in the past. Gurpreet tells of memories cutting deeper than reality. Yes. My regrets run to her like cuckholds to a stranger seeking shovelfuls of loam to cover their own graves.
We all experience the same humanity. I like the way this author portrays it. Examples?
* How can a dog teach? By yelling when happy and crying when sad.
* What in my soul can best be adored? Those blessings which can be read like a cherished book.
* If you have no one to die for and no one to live for, who will hear you scream? Maybe only the depression who married you and follows you around the house.
From growling shadows to cunning masks, the images in this poetry are like glimpses into odd corners of the soul through a magnified looking glass. Turmoil follows peace follows beauty follows pain.
I highly recommend "Kaurageously Yours." It stays with you. You see it walking like a skeleton. You caress its unhidden scars. You see its strength and understand why love must reach the vulnerable as well as the strong. I've shared many images from the poetry in the prose of this review, but they appear here only as dim reflections of the vivid originals in verse. Go now to the source.
