Product description

About the Author

Rajni Sekhri Sibal is currently the Joint Secretary Dairy Development in the Ministry of Agriculture. She topped the IAS in 1986 and received the NDTV Indian of the Year Award in 2013. Responsible for policy making in the dairy sector, she combined her work with her interest in Indian history and culture. She spent four years studying various indigenous breeds of cattle, did in-depth analysis and undertook extensive research across history, mythology and science. The result is this first-of-its-kind book on Indian cattle. This book is not only a valuable addition to an expert’s library but would also appeal to a lay reader who wants to understand the role of the cow in the economic and cultural sphere of Indian society.
