About the Author
Rishi Piparaiya spent over fifteen years as a flunky, middle manager and senior executive in multinational corporations. He ran international strategy projects out of Citigroup's New York headquarters, built risk management models for Banco Santander in Spain, launched innovative products and services for Citi India, and led a national sales force and award-winning marketing team for Aviva. He did make concerted efforts to scuttle his career by regularly sending satirical memos at work and boycotting all meetings that started before 10 a.m. But he still stumbled up the corporate ladder, with designations such as AVP, VP, SVP and CXO before realizing that there must be more to life than accumulating letters of the alphabet. So he safely evacuated from his C-suite office to a journey where he does what he likes, whether mentoring entrepreneurs in makeshift offices or envisioning future books on blank pages. A dusty briefcase in his Mumbai home holds certificates from Cornell University, the University of Rochester, the University of Cambridge and the Cathedral & John Connon School. His first book Aisle Be Damned is a national bestseller.

There is nothing preachy or pedantic about the tone of the book. It is full of humour and uses humour as a tool to deliver the message home. Of course, one might not agree with everything it says ( I didn't) yet it does not decrease from the pleasure of reading a fun book.
the book has 20 chapters that are divided into six sections and each section has dealt with one or the other face of being in a corporate wold. Every chapter with its exaggerated representations of situations that most of us can and will relate to, makes us laugh out loud at the same time as helping us see things in a different, at times lighter, vein. Right from the cover of the book which carries some hillarious job related advertisemnts, the laughter starts and ends only after the book does. But of course, one needs to take all the offered advise with a pinch of salt and relapse when the author is being satirical (which he is most of the time). I can only imagine the peril of taking the author at his word without getting at the underlying meaning. Perhaps that will be he matter for another book though. All in all, a fun read that is recommended if you too, like many out there, think you are a special case not being treated right at the job.
I rarely read Indian authors but the cover of this one got to me. There are hidden jokes on it! From padding up your CV to managing an appraisal to motivating your employees, this book talks about everything—but with just a hint of chaat masala and salt. :D
Do read. It’ll leave you with good jokes for your next boring work day.
In the current scenario, where the cut-throat competition is on a rise, and to win it all, you need to have a competitive edge. But at times, you might feel that this is not it. That the hard work and your sweat with which you are pursuing your job is going in vain. That things are not easy enough to be molded by your potential and diligence. That there are reasons which are rendering you a waste. And this mounts up the pressure and frustration within you. You scream, perhaps in your mind, but you do. You do want to achieve but then, how? This book is a perfect answer.
JOB BE DAMNED has a different or I would say, a unique, perspective to offer you. It has several ways and tricks written in and between the lines to teach and train your confident brain. Filled with anecdotes, the book comes as a fresh read that opens up windows to novel ideas and strategies to implement in order to drive your career. What I admire about the book is its smooth narrative that kind of adapts to its reader effortlessly. The book is a product of the author's research and experiences which make it relatable and pragmatic to follow. It teaches that to achieve the success you need to innovate - in your work, ideas, plans, and navigate through every challenge with a pint of humor. This makes the elusive corporate success achievable.
The book might not appeal all the readers because not everyone would be pretty much intrigued by stocks, meetings, business presentations and what not. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it. The book may seem boring at places. However, the kickass language used in the book made it comprehensible for me. The whole idea behind acing your professional career has been brought out well!
