The story is about a middle aged couple who try to reignite the magic of love in their lives amongst the chaos of life and family responsibilities. The plot might not sound something extraordinary, but the series of events happen to rediscover that lost love is worth appreciating. The stuffs done by the couple to become what they were earlier is quite funny and crazy . I really like the way the story is narrated in a humourous manner. The well crafted characters and twists in the later half will keep you hooked till the end. The language is lucid and the story is fast paced.
The cover of the book is quite average and dull. A book like this needs a much better cover. The title of the book is catchy and intriguing. The blurb is crisp and interesting. I really liked reading this book. A light and refreshing one .
This book was a 3.5/5 read for me. And I'll give my reasons below.
I won't lie and say that the idea was old and boring. Because really, I had never heard of such a thing before. It was new in its own regard. However, there was something about it that didn't quite click. Maybe it was the predictability of the story, or maybe because it was the unrealistic nature of the story.
I have a special hatred toward unrealistic stories when contemporary is concerned. I guess that is what fueled my dislike toward the book.
On the other hand, what I liked was that despite this, the book ended up being finished within a night (Yes, you read that right! Took me a mere of 3 hours to get it done.)
Anyway, time apart, there was this one thing that really irked me about the characters. All of them were too unrealistic. I mean, come on, think about it. There is a couple who had an arranged marriage. The lady was the ideal bahu of every family. Her grandmother was amazing in her own way. She never gave extra attention to her grandson, but instead gave it to her granddaughter (and yet, the lady thinks the grandmother wasn't into gender inequality - I mean, inequality is not just favoring the boy, it is favoring only the girl as well).
Anyway, once the eldest generation begins to think that the couple is probably having an affair, they team up with the youngest generation to ensure that such a thing does not happen. And the husband? The husband is all in to ensure that their plan fails. I mean, they do not have an affair but he still goes on to making everyone think that they do. So much that the whole family starts stressing over it.
I mean, how heartless can you be?
Apart from this, I found the book giving too much of gyan about what happens after marriage, and not in the fun way. It is almost as if the author is asking me to not get married when I grow up.
*sweats a smile*
Anyway, this is it. I hope I do not offend anyone with my review, because well, that's just what I thought.
The book is about kavita ,a middle aged woman, who is a housewife, and in all the chaos of her life meets her old friend, Anil.
Anil is also amidst all the roller coasters of life, falls for kavita. The eventually realise that they love each other.
The book basically is about an ex-martial affair with loads of humour. Kavita and Anil went on with the relationship as they were in their teens, but everything turned when their families especially children found about it.!
The fabric of the story is new. When i read the title of the book, i thought it will be the same cliched romantic story but to my surprise,it turned out to be something else. I cannot categorize it as a romantic book.
Overall, a fresh story with humour and twists.
One thing that put me off slightly were the grammatical errors.
Over-all it’s a humorous read on an unexpectedly fresh subject.
The plot is really unique. I have never read a book like this. This one is really different from all other romantic book. And moreover it also makes sense. I totally appreciate the work. The storyline was brilliant. Narrations is with all the spice needed for the dish. Loved it.
