The first chapter is mind blowing , giving you insights from all the aspects of computer programming and all the modern technologies where computer programming is used. The exercises are just awesome. For beginners this is a perfect all in one book. This was my 4th java book, but I really learned a lot from this book. I just loved the explanations of the author and all the real world examples with full source code at one place and then disecting each section of code one by one.
The Graphics and GUI case study at the end of each chapter will give you a lot of fun after finishing the chapter , by learning a new
graphics programming technique or by creating a small project. The best practices are encouraged from the very beginning.
The real world exercises are just like a real world project. I learned to use UML and object oriented design for the first time from this text. This was really a great great experience reading this book, though I haven't yet finished the whole book.
