Build and features:
Build is good but more thicker walls would be good as there is some resonance... Coming to design its front ported and it has a very refreshing and modern look with jbl new design philosophy..
Coming to features we can go through jbl online site...but most interesting is the addition of uv meter which shows input signal strength. Other more convenient one are front on/off JBL logo button and front volume control rolling wheel.
Sound: Sound is a fine balance between enjoyable and critical sound.
LOWS: Bass is way extended than its size...so it gives a fuller sound. So can be used for music and also for movies. But Bass quality is not that good or neutral. It has some bass punch or forward Bass in mid Bass region. This may be due to resonance due to thinner walls.
Or may be by design to cater all audiences..
MIDS: Surprisingly mids are warm and sweet. Its not like bright or uncomfortable like on Mackie or Yamaha or other older jbl's speakers. But upper mids are weak and have no authority like fluid audio f5 speakers. So instruments in this region do not have solid or authority sound.
HIGHS: Again very surprisingly highs are very well resolved and also not sharp. Jbl 305 or Mackie has very sharp highs. But in nano k5 highs are well controlled sweet and high quality.
So totally sound is well balanced between critical and enjoyable sound. That means sound is full with good low bass, sweet mids and highs without harshness.
Cons: Some hissing sound is there when no input signal but its bearable. For comparison fluid audio f5 is way too silent than nano k5.
USERS:
It can be used for music or movies also. You can listen to them whole day without ear fatigue unlike Yamaha. Also I have to say this is not for people who want flat bright reveling sounding speakers for monitoring. They can also check and go for Yamaha hs5 or presonus eris e5 or Mackie mr524 or jbl 305 mk2. But for both music listening and casual monitoring jbl nano k5 is the best choice among them.
