I have an Onkyo txnr626, for better or for worse. I'd been out of the sound loop for a long time and wanted a new home stereo, and that is what my best friend had, along with two JBL ES90s. So, that's where I started last year.
I have finally achieved listening satisfaction today and here's how! The ES90s are bi-wired to the Onkyo on Front Hi and Front channels. The ES30s are bi-wired, highs to the Center channel.... Yes, both wires, positive to positive and negative to negative, but both speakers are in the Center connection. The 6" woofers are on the Surround channel. I set the Onkyo to recognize bi-wiring and to bi-amp. (Stupid that you even have to do this.) Put center level on 200, bass on 8, and treble on 8, and some bass optimizer to On. What a nightmare it has been to get this setup to rock.
The ES center speaker is no longer available, right now at least, not is the subwoofer, so I'm making due. And I have the volume on 33 of 80 and it rocks. :)
Most of the music pushed through here is either technical ebm/electro or German industrial. Occasional skate/punk. I'm never putting a TV on this or gaming stuff. Just wanted excellent music, and I got it. These bookshelf speakers are more than worth their price, maybe twice the price. They filled out the sound, and the bi-wiring and bi-amping is the only reason the Onkyo is not on the curb. GO JBL! Five stars!
