Originally wanted this for the bedroom but this fellow rocked the loving room and the terrace with equal panache - You need a power source at all time - It can get very loud, however the sound is not the best quality when the volume is pumped to max
At 75% peak capacity it still sounds great...no distortion, glaring or harshness
It is suited for all kinds of audio, some reviews said it is not but i tested it on indian classical to rap to edm to what not. You might want ot twek the equalizer to extract the most out of it...of course the equalizer is on your device on the speaker.
The cinema mode is a true surprise, i tried the speaker test videos on youtube and the channeling could be felt clearly - THat is not this speakers true function, however it works just fine
It need to be atleast 2 feet away from a wall and i think it is not suited to be in corners, i felt the sound get confusing that way
For me the only grouse is the lack of a remote, because we are an i phone family. Android friends love it because they cant dock their phones for charging. Overall a great buy, a definite add in my gadgets horde!!!
Last but not the least - amazing customer service from the vendor and of course AMAZON as well. We had a few hiccups, but they were on top and that made a lot of difference

Clear Mids, and Highs
Bass was on the spot. There's an additonal Bass boost if you want, but it's too boomy for my taste.
(This systems works on a bass reflex enclosure. I guess you will have to move this around to get the proper "tune" or it'd be too muddy or boomy.)
Cons (being nitpicky)
-Remote Control would be a nice feature...
-Lightning port swivels.. this scares me.. it feels like your iphone or ipod touch is falling off from the dock..
i don't know if it's just me but when I dock my ipod, and play it... it doesn't sync. Although on the ipod screen it shows it's charging. Music would come from my ipod. I guess you have to leave it at "off" position, dock your ipod or iphone then turn it on... different systems work differently. I have a Philips DC390/37 that has remote, time, date, and dual docks. worked flawlessly...
Was not able to try bluetooth, was too excited to try this and had to do a couple of errands. At the end of the day, it's a JBL it doesn't not disappoint, my kids will attest to that. (They kept on dancing). Am a satisfied customer. I will update as soon as I can
October 27, 2014 Update
There was a trouble docking. After x numbers of trial and error the best way to go is turn on the JBL Beat Venue wait for awhile then dock the ipod. Pulled th eipod out and docked it again, this time it plays.
#1 Scenario :
ipod is on opened the app of Pandora, docked it (JBL is off). JBL turns on, charging icon is on ipod. But JBL doesn't play music, Ipod is playing.
#2 Scenario :
ipod is on opened the app of Pandora, docked it (JBL is on). Charging icon is on ipod. But JBL doesn't play music, Ipod is playing. Pulled the ipod out and docked it again, this time it plays.
#3 Scenario :
Turned on JBL dock, Ipod is on. Pandora app is ready to play and it is paused. Docked it and it played.
What is wrong? It is unclear whether it is the ipod touch that is slow or at fault. JBL read slow? I'll leave it up to you guys. Overall, it can be frustrating. Manual does not say anything.
I maintain a 4 star mainly because it is acoustically pleasing.
Update February 19,2014
Finally got the dock to work. Turned it on + turn it off + turn it on works flawlessly...
As for the bluetooth my wife says its unreliable.
Bluetooth connects quickly w/ my iPhone and iPad mini 3.
Okay as an iPhone dock but manufacturer could have known that it needed a bit more PUNCH on the Bass to bring more balance to sound quality that JBL speakers are known for. :(
After using the speakers for a couple of days, the speakers improved significantly, including the Bass. I guess, as with other speakers, this need some Break-in period. I now give it a 4-Star Rating. :)
Bluetooth on the Venue is just Amazing! :)
so far, there is no distinct difference when playing music either way, whether it is docked or via Bluetooth...
Surprised by the bass produced, need to listen more..
if you looking for a decent but NOT over the top expensive ..consider the JBL venue!!
