Excellent book for academics, but not for UPSC GS prep.

This book is a very good book in terms to know the detailed analysis of all Indian national movements post 1857 starting from Sepoy Mutiny. All the facts, causes, circumstances, situations, consequences are mentioned in a well defined manner. This is a very good book for academics.
For UPSC aspirants:
I would say, this book is not certainly recommended either for GS Prelims or Mains. Because this is too much detailed while studying for GS, this much huge information is certainly not required. Studying this monstrous book (600 page) only for national movements will be too tough in a tight schedule of prep. Better to go for some other book with concise but relevant information for attempting the questions.
However this I feel this book perfectly fits in for History optional. Very good flow of chapters from 1857 to 1947. This is excellent for an in depth scholastic knowledge of our freedom struggle.
