About the Author
Jonathan Rosenberg joined Google in 2002 and managed the design and development of the company's consumer, advertiser, and partner products, including Search, Ads, Gmail, Android, Apps, and Chrome. He is currently an advisor to Google CEO Larry Page.
Eric Schmidt served as Google's CEO from 2001 to 2011. During that time he shepherded the company's growth from a Silicon Valley start-up to a global technology leader that today has over $55 billion in annual revenues and offices in more than 40 countries. Eric is now Google's executive chairman.

A key challenge for Google over the years has been to remain a start-up while it achieves scale. How does Google manage that? As the authors say at the beginning, “…the only way to succeed in business in the 21st century is to create great products, and the only way to do that is to attract smart creatives and put them in an environment where they can succeed at scale. …In a large company it becomes more and more difficult to create that environment…forces in a large company can actively conspire against those…who are trying to do something different”. It is these forces that Google has successfully conquered.
For managers, HR professionals and all corporate watchers in general, this book is a ‘must read’. Absolutely wonderful.
The book talks directionally about the way Google works- the core tenet being openness in everything it does. The book is a good and insightful read for everyone- even people who are not working, as its focus is not on how company's can work, but on how we can conduct ourself, as individuals.
All the principles discussed in book are illustrated through situational examples as they happened during the course of company's evolution. This makes it a further interesting read.
