Now I can't wait to begin this journey.......
As for print & paper quality, good enough. Slipcase is great if you are planning to keep it for a long time. Pro life tip: buying thinner volumes is more sensible since they tend to last longer & don't give up that easily
But I just think that it is supremely cool that J.R.R. Tolkien actually wrote the book for his own children and never really intended to get it published! I mean..HOW COOL IS THAT?! Really!
The book was a great adventure. And Bilbo is an extremely likable hero! :)
About this edition (9780007488513): I loved the slipcase and it made for a convenient read, esp. because my husband was also reading the book at the same time! :D
P.S: Read the book and then watch the movie!
About the delivery, I must say I was not satisfied with the FedEx people who didn't try to find my home even though circling around my area several times. I had to pick the books from FedEx warehouse. But since the book itself is really good, I still gave it 5 star.
The box is a little damaged, which is almost unavoidable with the shipping process.
One of the books has a crease on the spine, which normally, would only develop while reading the book.
The font is just a tad bit too small. But not straining on the eye.
Maps are great.
Paper quality pretty decent.
Beautiful covers on all the books, with a golden emboss and not the cheap film tie in editions.
Great buy, good price.
