About the Author
Paulo Coelho’s life remains the primary source of inspiration for his books. He has flirted with death, escaped madness, dallied with drugs, withstood torture, experimented with magic and alchemy, studied philosophy and religion, read voraciously, lost and recovered his faith, and experienced the pain and pleasure of love. In searching for his own place in the world, he has discovered answers for the challenges that everyone faces. He believes that within ourselves we have the necessary strength to find our own destiny.
His books have been translated into 81 languages and have sold more than 225 million copies in more than 170 countries. His 1988 novel, The Alchemist, has sold more than 85 million copies and has been cited as an inspiration by people as diverse as Malala Yousafzai and Pharrell Williams.
He is a member of the Brazilian Academy of Letters and has received the Chevalier de l’Ordre National de la Légion d’Honneur. In 2007, he was named a United Nations Messenger of Peace.

Those who have already loved the fifth mountain and the alchemist will find this novel amazing. It ll touch your heart and soul, literally!
The story is about many people Coelho had met during his journey as Hippie with the girl named Karla. You ll find interesting characters whom after reading you ll wish to meet someday.
Some of the paragraphs and stories may seem unnecessary to you while reading, but trust me they aren't because to best explain the story Paulo had had to use such paragraphs. Try to read from Paulo's perspective as he has poured the true incidents of his life.
Don't buy the paperback, as it is not printed well enough that some of the words are omitted and coincidentally at important turn of events. You ll get irritated and annoyed with the paperback.
This novel is a complete 5 starred. Please read it. Don't get second thoughts.
Author: Paulo Coelho
Coelho of 'The Alchemist' in his latest fiction/biography book 'Hippie' entwines a tale about his life as a hippie and his journey halfway across the world. This straddling of the line between memoir and fiction successful? Regardless of genre, page after page of flower-power musing, such as 'The Supreme Gift, called Love, will make you an instrument of My words, the words I’ve not spoken but which you understand. The silence will teach you. … The silence may be translated into words, because this will be your destiny, but when this happens, seek no explanations, and urge others to respect the Mystery,' may leave some readers delighted but others dejected. And even for readers who rejoice in mystical, philosophical reflection, these spiritual ramblings may not be a convincing substitute for strong plot and thematic lines, compelling characters and unique insights into the world described.
Overall the magic that Coelho had sown with 'The Alchemist' is feeble with his new release.
A two stars for Hippie
The three stories of teachers of the man without name aren’t new at all. We know these stories for a long time as these have been attributed to many saints/gurus.
Otherwise a good read, keeps you engrossed and best part is that it wakes up the traveller inside you.
Paulo, Skinny Brazilian man in his twenties who has a burning desire to be a writer . Not knowing where to begin but with full dedication to what he wanna become , decides to travel the world, collect facts and why not make a tale about it ? Yes , that's what he did .
His travel kickstarts with a perilous journey in the so called "Death train" to Bolivia following Peru , later to chile and Argentina. Travel ecstasy takes paulo to the Dam square In Amsterdam.
Country filled with young , vibrant and free people who were in sole purpose of finding the inner truth. Yes the "hippies" , Thats where he meets Karla. Women in her twenties who has an astonishing free spirit who was searching for "the right companion" to accompany her to Nepal . This is where she convinces Paulo to join her and their trip begins in the "Magic bus" that travels across Europe and central Asia to kathmandu. The journey and the experiences encountered with the fellow passengers and their destination is truly fascinating. .
My opinion :
Certainly this book was more exciting than i anticipated. You could never put it down . Its on and on and on and before you realize, its done . i thoroughly enjoyed it. Paulo's writing and archetype was splendid. This book would definitely pave multiple ways of imagination in the scenarios every turn of the page. .
