Superb and detailed art work in pen and ink (no colours) , compelling story line, paper quality cudve been better, but at this price, the art itself even if on newspaper print , is underpriced, besides it mightve made the book too heavy to be practical.
The content is adult, so if u have kids at home.. discretion advised.
firstly let me say that the artwork is simply outstanding. mind blowingly good. if you like art for arts sake go for the book. But this (though substantial work) is where the good parts end.
the story leaves you a bit empty, sometimes fills you with hopelessness, and makes you question what the authors intention is.
The book is filled with the rape of its main protagonist, not once, but again and again and again. each time graphically portrayed and makes you hate the perpetrators. the part i didn't like is sometimes these events are portrayed voyeuristically.
the juxtaposition of the whole story in the modern world, where suddenly the author brings in modern buildings and equipment, also feels a bit contrived.
maybe i just didn't 'get it'. buyers are adviced to read the reviews for this book on good-reads before they buy.
