Thanks so much!
I've tried Schmidt's (Lavender, Rose & Vanilla, and the Cucumber Lime scents) and although it was okay, I knew I could find something better. The lavender scent made me smell chemically (likely from the detox), the rose scent is just a little too food smelling and if it mixes with even remotely any sweat smell, it starts to smell like BO AND food, lol. The cucumber lime just smelled too much like a household cleaner, for me. I also tried Tom's of Maine, and it gave me a rash.
So, I decided to try this one, and it has been about a week. Since I've already detoxxed from aluminum in my deodorant from when I tried Schmidt's, I got to get straight into how awesome this deodorant is. The lavender smell isn't overbearing at all. It actually doesn't smell much on me, which I like. I'd prefer to smell like my lotions or perfumes than my deodorant, but that's just me. It goes on really soft, it isn't sticky at all. And it lasts soooo long! Like I said, I'm not particularly sweaty OR smelly (and I live in SoCal where we are still hitting 90 degree days at the end of October), so take that with a grain of salt. But I gave it a test on a lazy weekend where I didn't reapply for 2 days, and I still didn't smell at the end. A+, I've found a new deodorant, and I am extremely happy.
I would seriously recommend giving this deodorant a try!
ETA: The company does NOT have this promotion anymore. When they did have the promotion, I had absolutely no issue with the promotion itself. I had an issue with the wording of the promotion, but the company changed the wording immediately after I posted my review. That speaks a lot to me about the quality of their customer service- that they care about what their customers think and changed the wording on a simple promo to correct the issue. To get to the point: I absolutely LOVE this deodorant. I did when I originally posted this review and I'm on my 3rd stick now. This is the best deodorant out there and I'll even have them put it on my corpse. Thank you to everyone who read my review and voted on it, this is the first time in my life that a review I've written has actually caused a stir or even been upvoted! And I hope Amazon lets me edit this because I've been trying to change this review a couple times and it won't let me.
Original review below:
Love the product, but not the company's policy. Shortly after purchasing, I was sent an email from the company promising a 25% discount if I left a 5-star review. That's a shady practice, and now I find it hard to believe a single 5-star review of this product. Personally, I love this deodorant, and it is the best I've ever used (no stains, no smell, great ingredients, A+), but one star must be taken off for this kind of "positive review purchasing."
I did not begin my journey with Green Tidings...I started with Primal Pit Paste which I still like a lot. I also tried Ava Anderson (now Pure Haven), LaVanilla, Jason, Toms, Crystal Essence and DeodoMom. I would rank them in effectiveness as follows:
Primal Pit Paste (Lavender)
Pure Haven (though I did not like the smell)
LaVanilla (they had great scents but was not strong enough)
Jason, Toms and Crystal Essence all tied for Blah.
Green Tidings stood out for a few reasons. Its application is very smooth. When using Primal Pit Paste, I would have to hold it in front of my hair drier briefly to soften it up. Green Tidings is already smooth (not as smooth as LaVanilla, but it works better). I only have to use a very small amount of Green Tidings, it is almost hard to put on just a little because the formula goes on a little heavy but you get used to how much you need. GT also did not stain my clothing as bad. When I say "stain" I mean making my clothing in the armpit area "darker" looking. The GT would pretty much dry and I could flick it or scrape it away like dust. I am not sure if this is due to the amount of coconut oil used but it is a bonus.
Anywho, I am a huge proponent of getting away from main stream, chemical-laden deodorants. GT is a great way to go. If you are just beginning......do yourself a favor and give yourself a full three weeks (without cheating) before you go back to backing your pit pores with toxic sludge :)
Have been trying to find an aluminum-free deodorant for a while. I am a heavy sweater so I don't expect non-antiperspirants to keep me dry. This certainly does not BUT it keeps me from smelling. Jason, Toms, etc never last longer than a few hours and even with reapplying, I smell real bad. This works! Yay! Also, this has the crunchiest, natural product packaging and I am so into it.
This deoderant works better then degree. Degree was the only deoderant I could use to stay smelling fresh and stop the wetness. While this does cost more then degree I know my health comes at a higher price. One small step to use safer products since their has been no legislation passed for safer products in the cosmetic industry in over 80 years in the US!!
Get educated and be informed as to what you are putting on your body!!
P.s. For those of you that shave your armpits, I would recommend waiting an hour or so to avoid any skin irritation (causes slight burning if applied on freshly shaved pits).
Peace to you!
Isn’t overwhelming. And most importantly, it honestly works. Yay!
There is an alternative product that is organic, vegan and works much better for us. Bali Secrets Natural Deodorant - Organic & Vegan - For Women & Men - All Day Fresh [NEW!] Bigger bottle - Same Reliable Formula - 2.4 fl.oz/70ml [Scent: Original Essence ]
I recommend buying the bali secrets natural deodorant as it has lasted us 10 times as long. Bali secrets has lasted us about three months now and there's one person using it daily and the other uses it around 2x a week.
P.S. My relatives and I noticed that when one stops applying the aluminum antiperspirant for a couple of weeks, one's underarms will break out like you would not believe! It must be the skin ridding itself of the decades of built up poison. So if you are quitting these products for the first time, don't be too quick to blame the alternative product you are using. It may simply be from quitting the aluminum and other chemicals...
Edit 9/1/15 - Well, I was right. The product is not quite as effective at eliminating odor as it was at first, but it is still the best I've ever used. Let's say I'm good for 16 hours now, more than reasonable. The skin under my arms is much healthier and better looking than before. Still the best deodorant ever...
My only negatives: the applicator wastes product by sticking to the edges of the lid (not sure how to word that better.) It would be nice to leave the deodorant to a level where I can open, apply it, then close it without clogging up the lid. I just don't have the motivation to lower it, then raise it each time. Also, I did get a small spot of darkened, irritated skin about a month in, but I figured that was normal especially considering there is essential oil in it. If you have sensitive skin, I would go for the unscented.
I would recommend this product to anyone interested in getting away from your supermarket deodorant for any reason.
