About the Author
Ashwani Kumar grew up in undivided Bihar in the shadows of emergency India. Poetry, for him, is also being in-politics. He is currently professor of Development Studies at Tata Institute of Social Sciences in Mumbai. He has authored Community Warriors: State, Peasants and Caste Armies in Bihar and was co editor-in chief of LSE's Yearbook Global Civil Society, Poverty and Activism. His poems have been published in journals in India and abroad, inlcluding Indian Literature, International Gallerie, Postcolonial Text, The Little Magazine and his articles and reviews appear frequently in Financial Express, Business Standard, The Hindu, Indian Express, Prabhat Khabar, Outlook (Hindi) and Open Democracy, among others.
