Rated one star just because This was first time I received a book that was not in new condition and moreover I found that the paperback was also in a very bad condition. New books attracts me and I read them with full enthusiasm but the condition of this book is not even a bit.
The product was shop soiled. There were fungus marks on the book. It was an outdated edition(2004).I could have purchased a similar copy from a local second hand bookseller at a much lower price. On the whole product did not meet my expectations and I am disappointed with my purchase
First, let me state the book deserves 6 stars out of 5 as a literary work. What a broad vision and what an exquisite language!!!! I think all teenagers must read this one before going to college.
Having said that, l must set out my grievances against the publishers. 1. The quality of binding is awful. Even during the first reading the gum at the backing gave away at several places. I fear a second reading will cause the book to fall apart. 2. The plastic coating of the cover also come apart curling just when i was just half way through. 3. There are too may typos. The book needs careful proofreading. 4. One map is missing entirely. 5. The font changes abruptly in the middle of a chapter. This occurs many times.
One expects a better quality product from Penguin.
I have another suggestion. This book is purchased by most people to keep as a reference and also to read and share with children. A hardcover version in 2 or 3 volumes is more suitable for that purpose. Even the paperback version will benefit from being published in volumes as the current version is extremely difficult to handle.
