Some stories I liked the most are
Time stops at Shamli
Angry river is about the subtle times and a simple island family which has nothing but their house to protect from the river flooding. Ruskin has portrayed this in a fashion that he has shown the cruelty of nature as well as the protection it provides to us time and again. The girl loses and meets her grandfather. She suffers the loss of her grandmother but that was inevitable. However, she meets a new person. An amazing story.
Time stops at Shamli is again a great story. I'm a bit skeptical if that is Ruskin's personal experience as well. A small town with a small hotel where everyone is making merry. People of all ages and the usual Ruskin flavour of animal attacks. The pain of meeting the old beloved and the expectation of finding and having her again. That has been described so beautifully by Ruskin.
I'm a fan and so would you become after reading his best stories.
One interesting aspect of this anthology is that it is the collection of the author’s favorites amongst his own stories written over 50 years, arranged in the chronological order. For an incomprehensible reason, it made me happy. While I kept the book back, all I had was a huge regret for not taking up his books for this long a time.
Whoever who has not yet experienced Bond’s magic, do read and know it for yourself! It will definitely be something that would make you happy, if not fall in love with it!
This books has a collection of some of his best stories and they are so easy to comprehend that you'll be left with a happy feeling after you are done.
I will confess that a few few of his stories were a bit boring, but to each his own.
