A series of incidents triggered by a bomb explosion , threw tarun and his mother and their peaceful life into a sitch of chaos and carnage.
But this would've been a different story if tarun didn't end up escaping and coming in front of a cave.
That's when his life took a whole new turn.
This is one where Lord Ganesha, the God of wisdom, startings and endings, the remover of obstacles, is weakened and stripped off his goldly weapons. The lands of the gods, the veiled lands is taken over by evil serpentine after enslaving the Gods.
Ganesha being the Guardian of one of the bridges which connect the veiled lands and the land we live in, the bare lands, still stubbornly stands to protect the passage way so no evil might pass to the bare lands. But he's growing weaker by the day.
Ganesha summoned Tarun to entrust him with an important mission. A quest to find and retrieve Lord's weapons from the veiled lands. From finding the places where the serpentine hid them and to getting the weapons back safely. How will Tarun get the weapons back before a week's deadline?
Transformations, belief, strength. He gains it all as he travels and trains with his allies Galerest and Radigar.
One important mission. An unknown land. Opression and rebellion. Tarun has to deal with everything and pull off this heist from under the serpentine noses.
A very difficult quest lays ahead. Only with courage and an anxious heart and a strong unwavering ally he steps forward.
Will he be able to finish his quest on time? Will he be able to save those precious to him? Will he be able to get over his obstacles and surpass them?
I loved discovering answers to these questions. The book frankly made me happy. The story reminded me of a genre i hold dear to my heart and seeing Indian mythology fiction molded into a sweet adventure filled story made me absolutely happy.
Smiling when i started reading it and smiling while i finished it. It's sure to make you feel giddy. The characters are not exactly what had me hooked. It's the potential the story has which had me wanting more of it. The later part of the book was very engaging.
Some lines i Ioved from the book:
"Through prana came the first beings of light and dark. A Duality that exists whenever life takes form. "
"The soul is spirit. A sword cannot pierced it, fire cannot burn it, water cannot melt it, wind cannot dry it"
Potent characters. Complelling story for a first book. I'm excited to see what the author has to offer for the sequel of this Temple War series.
If you've read Percy Jackson, Magnus Chase, Kane Chronicles, Heros of olympus, you'll enjoy this book.
In this story, Taran is a living example of an unconfident and not so religious 13 year old guy who is dejected and mocked by all among his family and friends yet chosen by Ganesha himself for a greater purpose purpose. Unknown of his mission on the planet, Taran takes his first leap on faith in his friend Ganesha, when reckoned, in a mysterious and surreptitious way.
Having encountered Ganesha face to face, Taran realizes that although he has an option to not opt for the greater mission of saving Ganesha's life and his family's life and above all saving both the worlds of Gods - "The Veiled Lands" and that of humans -"The Bare Lands" yet he could never back off without attending his big calling after all God never wants a 'no' as an answer!
And from there the rollercoaster journey with greatest of the heights and lowest of the abysses sets in the life of Taran when he is made to time travel into the land of Gods. Backed by Ganesha's allies, Taran makes several new and loyal friends in the new place, unlike when he was in his own place of humans! Strange isn't it?
But above all the biggest question is: Will Taran be able to accomplish his mission of defeating the enemies of the Veiled Lands - the Nagas and the Ausura Lord and help in restoring the power and victory in the hands of Ganesha which would also restore the victory in the Bare Lands? Will Taran be ever able to travel back to his own world to meet his family? What avatar will Taran transcend into so as to attain his super powers in the land of gods?
Unaware of all the above questions and even the answers to each of these, Taran has no other option than to only rely on the last words of Ganesha - ' Have Faith'!
With an easy language and well chosen plot and climaxes, I really enjoyed how the author made me do the fictional time travel along with his fun-filled story telling. In fact every chapter revealed a page turning moment that made the reading experience so enthralling.
However, I personally felt as if the end was in a rush and hence appeared a bit bland to me. May be because this book is just the first part in the series of the Temple Wars. But still I felt something to be lacking in the end that made it abrupt and fast paced than it should have been otherwise.
