There is one glaring error in the illustrations--the drawing of King's Landing is also used for Casterly Rock. COME ON, people! Also, because the book stops before Season 6, the House Words attributed to House Frey, "We Stand Together', are not on the House Frey title page. And in a design fail, on the Family Tree pages, the print is red on a dark grey page--almost unreadable, even in very good light.
The sections are divided by House, with a title page of the House name and words, sigil, a family tree page showing both the family and important members of the household (erroneously--except for House Baratheon--called courts) and advisors. Each named person gets a paragraph of description. There are cast photos and costume photos, drawings of the house seat as well as its location in Westeros or Essos.
The number of people included is a little sparse for some houses, and the descriptive paragraphs even more so, with many of them repeating the same sentences for certain events involving several characters.
The book itself is a nice effort, with thick pages and good design & illustrations. It's just too bad the same attention wasn't extended to its ostensible purpose--use as a guide to the characters. I'm waiting for the same idea for the books, which would be really useful.
The locations talked about in the book are only places that have been show on the TV show, again no new artwork is in this book.
Overall a decent book for fans of the show, but not for ASOIAF fans looking for new pictures and detailed family histories. Definitely disappointed.
