We are excited to bring the Second Edition of the book. The basic question that GMAT aspirants struggle with, is whether they would have to become English Grammar "gurus" to do well in “sentence correction” on GMAT. This thought is intimidating, because it brings back memories of countless types of Nouns, Pronouns etc. that most students struggled with, in their High School.
Typically students take two extreme approaches to deal with sentence correction: a) Give English Grammar a complete miss, hoping they can "somehow tackle" sentence correction without knowing even the basics of grammar. b) Go the whole hog, picking up a book such as Wren & Martin, to know "everything there is" to English Grammar Both the above approaches are extreme, and do not work for GMAT. On one hand, students cannot completely dis-regard grammar and still hope to do well on sentence correction; on the other hand, books such as Wren & Martin are an overkill for GMAT and also, are obviously not written with the requirements of GMAT in mind.
The emphasis of our book is to bridge this gap and to provide a right mix of English Grammar and its applicability to GMAT sentence correction. The book would equip the students with the right balance of English Grammar, and official examples, all contributing to this book’s phenomenal potential among students preparing for GMAT. The book starts with an introduction to English Grammar, with the intent of laying the basics of Grammar in place. Topics covered as part of this section include Parts of speech, Verbals, and Phrases & Clauses. In every topic that is covered, care has been taken to go into only as much depth as is required for GMAT aspirants.

Things changed ever since I started using this book for my preparation. I am a lot more confident now. The way the content is designed is amazing. The flow of the content and terms used are well organized. The basics are covered in detail. Every topic, along with its grammatical terms, is well explained. All the rules in the subject verb agreement and pronoun errors are covered with a lot more precision compared to many other books. The standout chapters in this book are Modifiers and Parallelism. These two chapters apparently make up to 60% of the SC questions asked in GMAT. Topics such as Appositives, Participles, and Relative clauses, XYZ approach for parallelism, meaning and parallelism, and many others have been dealt with a lot of care. The most relevant 5 tenses have been discussed in detail.
The examples provided are similar to the questions in OG (reference provided too) and hence are presumably similar to the actual GMAT questions. I haven't seen any other book providing such detailed and relevant solutions for the examples mentioned both within the chapter and at the end of the chapter. In my honest opinion, this book is all that one needs for his GMAT SC preparation (theory and concepts).
The contents of this book are well structured and organised. Each topic is then explained with examples. The assignment or the practise questions given in the end of each topic tests your understanding of the subject.
A thorough preparation from SC Nirvana along with additional practise of GMAT SC like questions (from sources such as OG) will get your accuracy in SC to more than 90% for sure.
SC Niravana: A must have for Non natives!!!!
It begins with basic concepts of English grammar and then covers
these concepts in detail with focus on GMAT.
It provides numerous examples from official sources such as
GMAT official guides, GMAT verbal supplement and GMAT prep.
The best thing about this book is that it does not deviate from its
focus on GMAT. This is not an English grammar book. It remains
focused on concepts required to crack GMAT sentence correction
Highly recommended for those who are preparing for GMAT.
PS: I used only this book for while preparing for GMAT. I scored 750!
