Born in Shimla in 1955, Anita Krishan spent the initial twenty-two years of her life in this pristine Himalayan town, earning her master’s degree in English literature from Himachal University, and moving on to a career of introducing delights of the language to her young learners. In her long tenure as an educator, she has enriched the lives of countless students with the mystery of the narrative, before moving on to a full-time career in writing.

She worked as the senior columnist at The Indian Economist, extending her perspectives on various political and social issues.

A versatile writer, each of her literary works appertains to a different genre . . . from the joys and travails of life to terrorism that has brought the world to its tenterhooks, to now the paranormal.

Her passion for travelling has taken her globetrotting, exposing her to diverse human ethos and cultures––the delectable foods for her thoughts.

Apart from her passion for writing, she is deeply concerned about the environmental threat that our world is facing due to callous human activities, and would like to help leave this world a better place for the future of our planet.

TEARS of JHELUM (Published-January 2014) A sensitive and poignant narrative, it brings forth a unique perspective of the terrorism problem that has made the contemporary world nervous and jittery, munching away the very roots of its peace and security, threatening to annihilate its very existence.

It is a story of a moderate Kashmiri who dares to defy the terrorist bullies, and struggles to save his family. The expression of pain, haplessness, agony and courage woven into a fascinating story makes it difficult for the readers to put down the book.

DESPITE STOLEN DREAMS (Published - July2017) A sequel to Tears of Jhelum - (published July 2017). The circumstances sculpt our lives. The roads that we tread are different, crafting diverse mind-sets, diverse behaviours, and diverse reactions to the situations. How easy it is for some to exploit fellow beings, inflict pain on them, render them destitute. The other side reveals fortitude and endurance in the face of calamity. This book lays bare the nuances of human emotions and thoughts.

A beautifully woven tale of conflict, resilience, courage, love and all things that make us human, Despite Stolen Dreams is an insight into the essence of character and consciousness. This masterfully crafted tale takes you on a journey from the land of chinars to the pulsating heart of India, through our strife torn world where people struggle for even a simple existence.
