I'm so happy I bought it! Not only is it just as effective as the big one at "sleeping" our baby, but I love the portability. We frequently move it from room to room -- sometimes to keep the baby with us (like when she's awake at dinnertime), and sometimes to get her into a slightly quieter part of the house (like when her big brother is rambunctious while she's asleep). I love having both options. The larger swing had sounds and mobile, but we haven't missed those things.
Other reviewers have mentioned it's slow to start. I often give the swing a little push start, but it eventually (a minute or two?) gets up to full-speed if I don't. However, I remember the full-size swing being the same way. Maybe they all just take a little while?
The only thing I've found surprising is how fast it swings, even on the lowest speed. It seemed like a little too much when my daughter was a newborn. But even then, she was secure, no sliding or slumping. (My oldest did slump down in the full-size one a few times -- a little scary.)
Overall, I don't feel that the larger swings are worth the price difference, especially since they're large and unwieldy. I'd definitely recommend this as a good option for a new parent.
