Best final fantasy.
I played final fantasy 7 in ps1. I doubted this game will live up to its hype. But it surpassed it. The story was best. 100% go for it♥️♥️.
Gameplay: you can play in classic mode which allows the characters to attack themselves but we have to choose special attacks and you can also play using them if you want. There is also normal mode where you control your character by yourself. Hardmode can be unlocked after completing normal mode where there is no potion usage. You have to heal yourself in Checkpoint benches.
Story : don't compare this game with ps1 1st disc. This was a new experience even to ps1 players. Story is wonderful.

Introduction:
Final Fantasy 7 is often then not considered to be the pinnacle of what a good JRPG should be and many to this day consider it to be one of if not the best JRPG ever made. Final Fantasy 7 manages to introduce you to a host of engaging characters weaved into a gripping story. Final Fantasy 7 was originally released on the PS1 way back 1997 and after a tech demo of the game remade was showed-off for the PlayStation 3 at E3 2005, demand for a remake steadily increased and this came to fruition when during E3 2015 Sony announced that Final Fantasy 7 will finally be getting a remake and would launch on the PlayStation 4. Fast-forward 4 and half years and we finally have the game in our hands.
Story:
You play as Cloud Strife, a mercenary for hire who’s been contracted by a group calling themselves Avalanche to stop an evil cooperation known as Shinra that’s been draining the planets Mako energy to power the advancement of the human race at the cost of slowly killing the planet. Across Cloud’s adventure, He and Avalanche start to realize that there is a much greater evil looming in dark.
While this is a remake, the story has been changed from the original. Retconned if we may call it that. It is extremely convoluted and many people might have a difficult time following the story and it’ll especially be much more confusing if you have no prior knowledge of past titles associated with Final Fantasy 7. The fact that Square Enix is releasing this in episodes does not help either. You read that right—This is in all regard Part 1 of a much bigger story; even if this game is it’s own self contained story. This game, that is Final Fantasy 7 remake only covers the ‘Midgar’ section of the original game and we can not surely tell how many parts this game will have or when Square Enix will release part 2. But we are almost certain that part 2 will not come out before 2022 and that it’ll mostly be a PS5 title.
Visuals&Performance:
Let’s start off by saying that the game looks visually stunning and exactly how we expected a remake to look. Everything has a certain level of realism while still maintaining an anime style. Lip syncing was a bit off though. Our assumption is that Square only worked on the facial animations for the Japanese dialogs. Performance seems to be good. We rarely faced any issues with the frame rates or frame pacing, even when things were got visually taxing. We played the game on a Standard PS4 from 2013 and the game ran at 1080p@30fps with the PS4 Pro version of the game being able to run at 4K@30fps. Both standard and Pro models support HDR functionality.
Gameplay:
The original’s gameplay has you running through areas trying to complete your primary objectives and combating enemies who’s path you cross. In the original, combat was turned based, your party would execute an attack after it would be your enemies turn to attack. The team who’s entire party members’ health dropped down to zero would lose. For the remake—this system has been replaced/tweaked to incorporate a more action-focused combat system. You can run around the arena blacking, dodge rolling and spamming attacks. Much like most hack & slash games but, how Final Fantasy differs is that you have a ‘command’ option at the same time.
If you were to hit the ‘command’ option, the game slows down, almost freezing everything on-screen and lets you cycle between three options. ‘Abilites’, ‘Items’ and ‘Spells’. Abilities are special moves that your party members have; each character will have their own set of special moves. Spells are as the name suggest magical abilities that characters can use—these can be magical abilities such as fire, cure, thunder etc. Items are objects that give you an edge in battle, these can range from stat buffs to health items to even combat focused items such as grenades. All the features present in the ‘command’ tray can be used for either defense or offense depending on the characters in your party. So, knowing your characters strengths and weaknesses can almost always give you an upper hand in battles. It’s extremely similar to how Kingdom Hearts’ combat mechanics work.
Accompanying this form of combat are rpg elements such as a leveling system for each character; different weapons with different stats items called ‘materia’. Materia are items that you equip to your party members that gives them stat advances or boosts such as increasing your luck by 20% or giving you a 10% MP boost. The more you use materia—the more it gains in experience and it gains in stats boost. You also get summons that are these creatures that can help you out if you in battles though the game decides when you can use summons and you cannot summon them in any fight as you per your connivence.
Along with your standard HP and MP gauge, a meter called ATB meter. If you were wondering, ATB is used for your ‘Abilities’ and it recovers faster the more you attack. There’s also a forth meter called ‘Limit Gauge’. This is a meter that fills up based on the damage you take and the amount of stagger you cause to enemies. once it’s full you can see a fourth option in your ‘command’ tray called Limit Breaker. This is a special ability that deals large amounts of damage. Each character has their own HP, MP, ATP and Limit Gauge.
Boss battles are something that, based on your understanding of the combat system can be quick and easy or be a really long battle. If you manage to somewhat understand how to use the different elements of combat like the materia system, parry etc it can be pretty easy. So understanding it is key to derive maximum enjoyment in these encounters.
Audio:
Final Fantasy 7 remake contains some great voice work which give the characters a certain level of personality that makes you like each character by their own right. Conversation are well executed and are engaging to listen too. Likewise, the music is top notch with tracks from the original with a modern flair to it.
Conclusion:
Final Fantasy 7 remake manages to get a lot of things right when it comes to remaking a beloved franchise for modern consoles but we’d be lying if we said that we were okay with the episodic nature of the game. Also, the fact that Square Enix makes no mention of its episodic nature on the box and the game retailing for full price? This is not a easy recommend for us. Our final score might not actually reflect what we’re about to say but buy this game if you are a fan or when it goes on sale. With no clear indication of how many parts the full game will be and how long it’ll take to finish the remake and Square Enix is notorious for long development times. This game for the time being is not a must own if you are not familiar with the series and don’t let major review outlets fool you into buying this game with their high-scores.
