I've given numerous copies of this book to friends for birthday/Christmas gifts - including those who were not active in their Christian faith at the moment - and my they all continue to tell me anecdotes about an illustration or passage in Falling For God that spoke to them in some personal, special way. Just like the Purpose Driven Live, Falling For God is one of those texts that needs to be on the bookshelf in every Christian home.
It's a great read! I haven't put it down since I started reading it. He weaves humor throughout the pages, giving it a lightheartedness at just the right time. There is so much truth packed into this one book. He brings to mind some of the crazy things that we think and do, causing ourselves to fall further from the intimate presence of our Father God-causing us at points to *gulp* at our own inadequacy. But then, he gives us a way to intimately reconnect to our Father, letting go of our false selves, and once again look forward to an intimate closeness with God.
He also gives various viewpoints that I had never thought of before – such as, what might Peter's mother-in-law really think of Jesus before Jesus healed her from her sick bed? (Pure speculation, of course, but it gives one pause for thought.)
A wonderful read, highly recommend!!
Moon speaks with authority because he's someone who knows this, has lived it and has refused to settle for the "norm" of Christian culture that has settled for the "fire insurance policy" concept of Christian living (love that!) and has dared to wrestle with God and say "there has to be more." There is and what you find is beautiful, inviting and far from mediocre. Moon writes candidly about his journey to faith as a youngster and shares with readers how and when he truly "fell for God." You've got nothing but misconceptions about God and the Scriptures to lose by reading this book!
