- Reviewed in India on 27 January 2016Verified PurchaseAvadhi text on the left is translatable using the english text, the effort is ultimately rewarding and urges you to sing along with tulsidas, because thats the whole point of an oral devotional text.
- Reviewed in India on 8 May 2016Verified PurchaseGreat translation. Joy to read. Must buy. Thanks Murty Classical Library.
- Reviewed in India on 15 March 2017Amazing experience reading the devanagiri script and awadhi text of Ram's story, and see an english translation to assimilate both. The author is par excellence and is a scholar on Hanuman.
- Reviewed in India on 25 August 2016Verified PurchaseIt is a commendable work. There is no doubt about it. But I, as a reader and a buyer had no clue that it is going to be in 7 volumes. I was under the impression that it is a two volume set. Quality of the printing is not up to the mark. May be because it was exclusively for the Indian market
- Reviewed in India on 3 December 2020Verified PurchaseI paid rs 2900 for the set of seven books. As described in the details. Amazon customer service speaking on your behalf promised to send me all the seven. Only one has arrived.
- Reviewed in India on 22 October 2017Western point of view well presented. If you want to watch yourself through the western lens read this book.
But remember that it will be most useless of looking at our history
- Reviewed in India on 22 March 2016Sheldon Pollock is the editor-in-chief of the murthy classics. He says Ramayana is socially oppressive and it was outplayed in the 12th century AD to demonize the turkish invaders by the Hindu Kings, just like Bhagwan Ram Demonized Ravana. Hindu Kings also used Ramayana to claim that they were of Divine origin just like Bhagwan Rama.
- Reviewed in India on 16 March 2016Worst book ever produse to understand Ram.
Dont west money on it.
Its western interpretation of Ram not Hindu view of Ram.
