A great movie and superb story line!!!. A must watch if you are a fan of thriller and suspense movies I have seen this movie in Malayalam as well but I would give an extra star for the Hindi version. Tabu in a role of a cop and a mother has done a great job, it was a treat watching her portray this role so convincingly and at ease. Shriya does justification to her role as a mother and a wife of Ajay Devgan. Last but not least, Mr. Devgan has done a good job as a father who goes out of his ways to protect his family.
At the end of the day, it was worth it. Enjoy with your family. Because rarely comes a Bollywood movie that can be enjoyed with family. Yes "enjoy" is the key word here.
So, 9/10 for me, for a really interesting and refreshing flick.
I've been skipping Ajay Devgan films for so long so when I heard immense praise for Drishyam, I was very happy cause I was like finally I can do justice to him. It is also rated substantially higher than other films he's done (like ever!) Anyway, the film is hardly about Ajay Devgan, I mean yes he's the protagonist and he is absolutely outstanding in his role portrayal but a film of this height requires more chain pulling by other characters rather than just the protagonist. I would like to congratulate the director on a most awesome star cast. From the villain to the hero, from the vamp to the innocent characters, the starcast was awesome. Some people said somethings could have been different but DRISHYAM is one of those driver films where the film drives its own point home and you don't touch the fast moving car that the film becomes or you get hurt.
Tabu is excellent, she comes on much later in the film. I thought the sets and locations were fine but this film is so dialogue driven so I want to forewarn you. That is, if you are going to be buying or renting the dvd or bluray, please make sure you don't have any kids around, make sure your phone is off (even if you're a doctor who's patients love calling him in times of leisure) ' I basically am trying to say put the world aside. Let Drishyam grab you by your horns and take you away into its spell binding world.
I want to give full marks to the film because it is directed effortlessly good. The continuity errors that are often common place in films that have dialogues are very few or noticeably zero. This goes a long way in making the overall sketch seem more believable and not trivial.
Yes, there are some scenes where the anger or sadness in the pit of your stomach may induce tears.
At the end of the film, I didn't want to look at my wife for any sort of affirmation, confirmation for I was so engrossed, so taken by the events that unfolded in front of me. I am waiting for 12 months or 24 months to pass so I forget this unforgettable story and watch the original films in the original languages.
Many have said they were better but if the creator has a masterpiece, its his masterpiece. We however worship the God that finds us. And this my friends, is one heck of rollicking ride I suggest you don't miss.
Must I add this is the best film of the year 2015. It towers over Piku, Ex Machina, Wild Tales, NH10,Baby, Badlapur (i loved it) and even Sallu had a great film this year (not naming it)
