A thrilling exciting tale with requisite suspense and cliffhangers. The narration is simple by the standards of the thrilling story. Not much effort has been given in the character craft of supporting characters whereas the protagonist is worked out well. The cover image is The highlight of the book. The dwindling sanity of the man and the maze of his ambiguous past is pulled off in the cover image.
The page setting and the print quality needs a special mention here. As with many self published books, the appearance of the book is deceptive in a wrong way. The quality of the cover page and the paper size are not appealing. The saying "don't judge a book by it's cover" is literally meaningful for the book.
There were a cascade of nail biting scenes. Sometimes too much to confuse the readers though. Nevertheless how the pieces are joined together is interesting. A thorough rework will take the book to another level.

So, all in all the book was a nice package of just one thing, i.e., Mystery and that is what makes this a great read. It is not a mixture of a lot of genres. You won’t find love, romance, humor, etc. You will find only what the book aims at. You can enjoy minimal flaws in the editing, which will make your reading experience smooth, also you can enjoy a little above the line vocabulary.
Mr. Gupta is not the same anymore. What has made him like what he is today ? He is not even a faint shadow of his earlier self. The tragedy that stuck years ago has caused irreparable loss .Is Mr. Gupta mixed up with some sinister characters & if so , why ?
A painting is to be stolen by fraud & deceit. Is the plan brought to fruition ? A police officer goes missing .Entire staff is butchered & nobody knows where & why ? Who is the perpetrator & why ?
The story is full of twists & turns. It is a thriller which keeps the reader turning page after page to unravel the story.
The feelings of loss of memory are described so vividly that one feels empathy with the character. And do siblings read minds of each other ? And are there no limits which can stop anybody from protecting another ? And what is the extent to which a person will travel to seek revenge? And what about collateral damage ?
Manali seems to the perfect setting as the storms signify the turmoil in the minds of the characters. And dark clouds symbolise the darkness in the tale.
All in all , a superb read !
The novel keeps you engaged till end, with every chapter a new mystery gets added into the head of the reader and at the end how mystery unfolds and all the chapters starting from first till the last gets connected is the beauty of Prateek's first novel.
