About the Author

Sunil Mithas is a professor in the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland and the author of the book, Making the Elephant Dance: The Tata Way to Innovate, Transform and Globalize. He earned his PhD from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan and an engineering degree from IIT, Roorkee. Before pursuing his PhD, he worked for nearly ten years in engineering, marketing and general management positions with the Tata group.
Identified as an MSI Young Scholar by the Marketing Science Institute, Mithas is a frequent speaker at industry events for senior leaders. His research focuses on strategies for managing innovation and excellence for corporate transformation. He has worked on research or consulting assignments with organizations such as Johnson and Johnson, Lear, A.T. Kearney, the Tata group, the Social Security Administration and the US Census Bureau.

Sunil Mithas is a great researcher. This book is a good attempt from an academic to write on an important practitioner subject. He simplified the research findings of his and other colleagues on IT value and made them accessible to a broader audience. I liked the early parts of the book more. The later chapters lost the early parts' simple exposition a bit. Overall, it fills a void. I would like to see more books on IT management (which can be read by practitioners) from academics.

Easy and quick read. I recommend it.

I would also recommend others to read IT Savvy by Weill and Ross along with the Sunil's book. These two books are very good complements.

These ideas are just a repetition of other theories put together. No new ideas here. Large text, no new ideas, short book, wouldnt waste the money or time. If you have to buy it, buy the digital version, much cheaper than the soft bound.
