About the Author
Sonia Mehta is a children's writer who believes that sparking off a child's imagination opens up a world of adventure. She has been writing for children for over two decades. Her body of work is wide-ranging-she created one of India's first dedicated children's newspaper sections; conceptualized the Cadbury Bournvita Quiz Contest for TV; and has written books, songs, poems and stories for leading publishers in India, several African nations, the USA and the UK.
She lives in Mumbai and runs Quadrum Solutions, a content company she co-founded. She is also the co-founder of PodSquad, a retail children's edutainment brand that firmly believes that children learn best when they are having fun.
Most days, Sonia can be found pounding away at her computer-when she is not playing with her dachshunds, the two little loves of her life.

The book has been made interactive with mazes, jumbles, quizzes, and even a treasure hunt. There are beautiful illustrations and photographs.
The author has described the history of the city in a way that is easily understandable, as also the monuments. I came to know certain things which I was not aware of before. If, while travelling around Delhi, you take this book along, I am sure it would be very helpful.
She has talked about the Delhi various modes of transport in Delhi, like the Delhi Metro. Delhi is a foodie place and the author has described many joints in Delhi and the famous food they serve, book stores in Delhi, the world Book Fair, some important festivals of Delhi and things that make daily Delhi so unique.
I really enjoyed reading the book and actually made a list of to do things from the book like the monuments I need to visit, the food I need to try and also to travel in the bus number 620.
This series of discover India city wise city is a must read for everyone, old and young.
New Delhi is known for its historical events- the rule of different dynasties and the circumstance that led to the naming of this city as ‘Delhi’. Without being monotonous at any point, this book covers all these aspects in short paragraphs backed by rough yet colourful illustrations. What I liked the most about this book is that it has a puzzle or a brain teaser at the end of every chapter.
We generally find it difficult to explain the topographical location of a city to the kids. Well, the author wins this battle too. She uses the terms like ‘Delhi Triangle’ and ‘The Ridge’ to capture the attention and explains in short sentences- just enough information for young kids.
Discover India- Delhi is a well crafted and well-designed book that will allow young children to learn about the people, their lifestyle, the city’s climate and the other necessary facts.
