I hadn't read all the reviews but the price wasn't bad and I was desperate to find something that would shine up my pieces. I read the reviews and I must say this product does get thick but I put my brushes in water after I'm finished; wipe them some when I begin and then dip into the glaze and I haven't had a problem spreading the glaze, with dripping or streaks but then I'm painting a very small product.
The instructions say 'don't overwork' -- I have no idea what that means but I let it dry-within 20 minutes - no smell at all and then go over those flowers that aren't shiny enough for my taste.
The product does get thick but I didn't find that a problem - others agreed mixing with a bit of water would thin out the glaze and not screw it up but I prefer to use it fairly thick and just have the brush be wet enough to help spread the glaze.
The picture below doesn't really show the look of china that I get and I am very pleased with the final product. I have ordered three more jars and also I'm trying some other glazes. Those of us who can't get out to a hardware store would probably find this type glaze (or the same) at a cheaper price but time is money so....there you go!
This glaze can be used on most things: baked polymer clay, wood, almost any craft that needs a shiny surface. However, it is not waterproof, and should be kept dry. It didn't work when I tried to repair a scratch on an end table, either. It doesn't seem dangerous and has no scary warning labels, but don't eat it. Just sayin' There are plenty of great things to eat in the grocery and gourmet food department.
On a totally random note: this is my 500th review. I've been reviewing Amazon products for at least five years, and I hope you like them and find them useful. Once in a while I write a funny review, and I hope you like those best of all.
Apply a thin coat with a brush and let it dry, it does its thing and smoothes out.
Helped make a beautiful wedding gift in a short amount of time leaving the gift with a beautiful shine.
